Nick Walker show your verdict, by idris on Apr 20, 2008 11:26:59 GMT 1, The other comedy moment was - a young chap with a mouth the size of the mersey tunnel was speaking to Sohoria. He was saying what a huge fan of Nick Walker he was etc etc etc. This is in the very early hours of the morning, anyway their conversation was interrupted when this chap walks out from the gallery and in to the streets and past the queue.
Our 'fan' of NW sees the chap and asks if he's had a good night (I think we all assumed he knew who he was talking to) anyway, he asks if he's had a good night & what have you been up to?
NW replies 'oh you know, I do art', 'art? oh you do art? 'how long you been doing that then'?? came the reply to the complete bemusement of NW
the look on NW face was 24 carat gold, anyway, to his credit NW just went merrily on his way & didn't come out with 'don't u know who i am' lol.
Said hi couple of times and NW comes across as a very likeable chap - the 1st time he saw the queue he was in total shock. Must be awesome to think people queuing were there to appreciate their love of art and of NW's work.
Still buzzing from - had an awesome awesome time :-)

Vandal Airways & V For Vandal for Trade, by idris on Apr 18, 2008 23:03:55 GMT 1, You see, while in the queue for the print there were a few ppl talking about value; wots it gonna be worth, it'll be worth x amt - u know the usual stuff. It dont take a genius to figure out that queuing 30 odd hours and selling something for 4 times you bought it is a no-brainer. If it clears a few bills for them and well .... unfortunately its the way it is.
2 other guyz and myself we in a caf f-5ing like torpedoes - the 1st came and went, the second came and went but I saw the elusive 'buy now' button before the dreaded time out thing happened. I was gutted - love the plane print & it looks even better in the flesh. So, how people can sell the Life's 2 Short or the others b4 they even get it is beyond me - but they queued 30odd hours and they'll do what they want to.

BRP - Nick Walker - The Queue Diaries, by idris on Apr 18, 2008 9:11:22 GMT 1, standing in line for 30 hours for a print isnt something i am likely to repeat in a hurry, but i have to say that the experience was really good. At the front with me some lovely forum members who really know and appriciate good art. there were some people not too far behind about 4 in particular who were quite clearly not interested in art in any way. one guy said he had been buying stuff off Nick Waker for years and was a good friend. Out then comes Nick from BRP starts chatting to the same person who in front of everyone says' so what do you do for a living then?' NIck replies 'i do a bit of art', then replies the hired hand 'are you any good?' this is a guy who clearly doesnt even know who nick is, let alone kow what his art looks like. this guy and 3 others were paid by another guy to que for him and then obviously buy him some prints. the 'gang master' returnled to the scene with about 30 mins to go and tried to blag his way in early to buy some canvases. thankfully he was told a very clear no. the blokes he hired were clearly not very pleasant. (if your on this forum mr gang master) ive clocked your face and if i get the chance will be having very strong words with you about the monkeys you hired. but back to the nice stuff- the vast majority of people were lovely and i find it amazing having read this thread or some of it the negativity towards the people who like me had nothing better to do than actually buy a print at cost for a change. i took my laptop with me and was online and f5ing for both the online releases, both sold before i even saw a buy button(again), so i feel that alone justifies my decision to take some time off work and que. as it goes there was still a couple of places in the que some 20 hours after i got there at 8am on thursday. it was a very cold, but strangely warming experience and i will be keeping in touch with a few people i met. oh i didnt mention the print, BRP generally if not always produce prints of the highest quality. this is not only no exception, but it kicks the ass of any print ive seen for quailty. perfection. i'll write about the rest of the art and the show itself when i find the most appropiate thread.
Yo Slammer, ma man!! wot an amazin 30hrs we had eh? brilliant - some1 said 'forget about the cold & the queuing, once you get the print you know it'll be worth the pain, the sweat and tears. Shame we missed out on the prints but I think we can safely say we more than tried, like every1 else. Our 'small' comfort was we knew we were guaranteed the print.
Referring back to the 'ringers'. We clocked them straight away & needless to say they'll be doing it again elsewhere. It was quiet obvious they weren't there for the art. The story bout not knowing who nick was was really funny coz I witnessed it from peeping out under my duvet lol. Look on Nicks face was like 'wtf' ;D
Quit an experience .... but at least nxt time it'll be warmer lol

The Nick Walker Vandal Exhibition Experience, by idris on Apr 17, 2008 23:12:06 GMT 1, just got back - met some awesome people and exchanged some great tales. picked up the print, and also managed to nab an original!! down side is that a truck crashed into my car on the way out and drove off - he had no number plate on the rear, so i'm going to see the rozzers tomorrow and see what they say. i'm off to sleep - i couldn't really sleep on the street..... but fell asleep on bench in cargo garden when it was raining for a little while. to anyone i didn't introduce myself to at the show with my forum name - i was the tall guy, with an oakley beanie, grey scarf, pea coat and brogues....... i was the guy who stupidly didn't take a sleeping bag and took to trying to sleep in a cardboard box....... oh, and btw, that fire was epic......
yeah man - I walked into you while we were both taking pics in the gallery lol :-)
beanie at - nike logo - red & black ruck sack - half asleep lol

Nick Walkeer Show - PHOTOS, by idris on Apr 17, 2008 19:48:14 GMT 1, Just left the show myself - hope to have some pics posted very shortly.
The whole experience, from queuing overnight to the actual show was something else. It's been a great 2 days - I got the print on the night & it looks amazing.
The work on display was out of this world and I would be very surprised if 85% wasn't already sold by the time I left.
Credit to BRP for organising this exceptionally well, to those who queued overnight - a great buzz, no FIGHTS - all you pillocks who were anticipating a fight go take your mouth for a $hite - the weather for being a complete b!tch & to all those ppl I met.
Will I be doing it again; sleeping on the streets of london? why the hell not but I guess next time I won't be a day and a half early .... i'll be EVEN earlier ... just to give those who were whining and moaning something to whine and moan about.
PS ... those who thought the queue was 90+ early Thursday morning; it wasn't. Infact the last person to make up the 75 didn't infact arrive til about 9 ..... :-)

BRP - Nick Walker - The Queue Diaries, by idris on Apr 17, 2008 7:44:46 GMT 1, i bring bad news the queue is over 90 people long, a friend of a friend was down, and theres loads of people i was sitting waiting for the bus to london when my 2 friends pulled out 10 mins before the bus departed, so i had the option of going on my own, getting in at 7, spending 11 hours myself until the show opens and then another 6 hours after for my bus back, which tbh i didnt fancy so my nick walker experiance is over before it begun frankie, i have tried to phone u, ill get in touch 2morro and sort something out, sorry mate
there were no where near 90 people let alone 75 at past midnight :-)

BRP - Nick Walker - The Queue Diaries, by idris on Apr 16, 2008 20:14:39 GMT 1, It would save the flippers time, they could sell their ticket ther and then for £1k
tickets are being embossed ( so they can't be counterfieted) - for each tickets pics ar being taken & you can't leave the queue - go off sleep elsewhere and re-join the queue - sounds pretty well organised.

BRP - Nick Walker - The Queue Diaries, by idris on Apr 16, 2008 20:04:07 GMT 1, If I was BRP? I'd start taking pictures and then print them off for the doorman to let them in first. None of the mates joining the queue too then. Also make a pretty picture for afterwards for the office wall ' the queue for our last show ...' yep, because thats realistic isnt it. Good thing your not BRP. First 75 people in the que recieve tickets for the print, simple.
that's correct :-)

BRP - Nick Walker - The Queue Diaries, by idris on Apr 16, 2008 20:00:16 GMT 1, I want to go down there just to throw paint and cow poo at everyone. Then watch their faces as they frantically try and decide whether to leave the queue and go wash or sit there covered in cow poo all night.

BRP - Nick Walker - The Queue Diaries, by idris on Apr 16, 2008 19:57:31 GMT 1, guyz - my advice to you is if any of u's are thinking of coming for a print TOMORRO - get there EARLIER coz right now the queue is 30 odd deep (i'm about 4th in the queue lol)
the atmosphere is cool - we're all freezing our nuts off - we know what's happening (Mike from BRP has told us what the plan is - and its pretty much fool proof) I reckon even if you turn up early morning ' bout 4ish u'll make the 75 - cant guarantee it of course but its an educated guess.
there's a wicked little caf round the corner - got a nice coffee and use of their wifi :-)
& ps - its not a fiasco YET :-)
