Banksy Grannies Print, by nikeros1974 on Oct 27, 2006 7:06:59 GMT 1, what exactly do you think they can / should do? the problem is simply supply and demand! too much demand, and too little supply. you might think you've been hard done by because you didn't get one. what if you had got one? would you feel the same? what about people who have no internet access? what about people who don't have credit cards or ยฃ200 spare? what about Mongolian yak herders? and who are 'true' fans and who aren't? Good idea mate. Will be mailing POW thats for sure and telling them of my displeasure. Others should do so as well. Maybe they will listen and give us all a chance.
Exactly Martin, all the story of tracking the ebay back and cancel his order is pure bulls**t....
The point is only one: Banksy is the best horse of the POW stable, and what happened yesterday is just unbelievable - not even the hottest IPOs in the stock market sell out so quickly.... ... and my impression is that even at double the prices, the items would have sold within the hour anyway....
Asking to track back the guy, cancel his order and spank his a** because he is not a "real Banksy fan" (at least, try to give a good definition of this) is a little bit too much and, to me, sounds also a little bit stupid, against the market rules, and it is the market (and, speaking clearly, EBay as well, don't look at it as the bad devil) which promoted Banksy to a internationally known artist.
On my side, I managed to get an unsigned one, and I am looking forward to hang it on my wall together with the other things I have... Having said that, everything has a price, and if in a few months there is still crazyness in the market, I can't esclude I will try to sell it.... Otherwise, it will show itself proudly on the wall for years!!! ;D

Banksy โข Turf War Print โข 2003, by nikeros1974 on Oct 30, 2006 1:10:55 GMT 1, Since apparently some people got disappointed, tomorrow I will change the adv from "print" to "poster", just to make the thing even more clear - I have stressed that it is unsigned and non numbered, I have listed under "unlimited" editions, how could I be more clear than that? Clearly, I will contact at the same time the highest bidder to say if he is still happy, otherwise will cancel, no probs The simple point why I put quote by Silky is because I am completely colorblind (not joking) and I have never seen the original one, so I wanted to know if this has exactly the same colors.... If people keep to be unhappy about the description, will cancel the ad, no probs... more than starting the auction from 99p with no reserve... why don't you just sell it back to silky ?
Tonight I put some pieces on ebay and decided to put this one... Do you think that the description is misleading??
To answer to your question, I contacted Silky to ask about the colour and about my intention to put back on ebay, he can always bid there....

Banksy โข Turf War Print โข 2003, by nikeros1974 on Oct 3, 2006 17:03:08 GMT 1, Thanks Nu Nikeros, If you want to sell it to me at the price you paid please let me know.
Really Silky, don't worry...
I repeat, I wrote this to ask for an opinion, and I knew it was you to have sold me the print.
Everyone, immediately, said "it's a fake", "it's a worthless piece of paper", and you were the only one trying to say something good about it, so I get suspicious, you know what I mean?
I appreciate your offer, I think I will get the hit of my error, even if, I repeat, if I walk into an Armani shop, I assume that I can get only Armanis and not potential fakes...
and you were a Banksy official for me, if I buy from you I buy only good things, you know what I mean?

Banksy โข Turf War Print โข 2003, by nikeros1974 on Oct 3, 2006 16:42:06 GMT 1, I bought this print from you (better said, by one of your previous ebay id)... So I do not need to go witch hunting given that I already found mine... That's it... This is just to make other people aware.... No one gives a toss mate ! whatever you bought you obviously bought it knowing full well what it was. Silky's a trusted member of the forum that no one would have a problem buying from, regardless of what you bandy around !
They would better have....
Anyway, whatever: I just posted to have an opinion to start with (given that this is an expert forum), not to accuse anyone...

Banksy โข Turf War Print โข 2003, by nikeros1974 on Oct 3, 2006 15:57:56 GMT 1, I wonder if you now wished it had a number on it so you could sell it on for a big profit?
... and, in any case, would not be your business...
One think I can tell you: if I buy a fake, I won't try to resell it, it is not my style...

Banksy โข Turf War Print โข 2003, by nikeros1974 on Oct 3, 2006 15:45:34 GMT 1, I'm still trying to work out who your talking about Anyway I got an unsigned Turf War off ebay ages ago (Fully knowing what it was) and then resold it on ebay clearly saying it was unsigned and un-numbered, So I'm not sure if your talking about me? If so It was sold as an unsigned piece for a very reasonable price if I remember right, and if your now not happy to have it on your wall I would be very happy to buy it back off you for the price you paid ;D I wonder if you now wished it had a number on it so you could sell it on for a big profit?
To be clear, I have a lot of Banksy prints and never sold one: I am not a scalper....
I only made my point, which is clear...
Someone who is considered one of the "officials" when we are talking about Banksy, should not sell potential copies...
If I am buying the Paris Hilton CD sold from Australia, well, I expect to have a high risk... vice versa, from some users I buy with faith, like everyone should buy from me with faith in case I would need some cash ;D
Anyway, if you consider ebay like a poker arena, you bluffed me around quite well... If you consider it like a market place, well, we can discuss on your action....
Whatever.... have a boz thinking about me....

Banksy โข Turf War Print โข 2003, by nikeros1974 on Oct 3, 2006 15:24:36 GMT 1, Ithink people need to remember that a few un-numbered Turf Wars and Monkey Queens and possibly a few other prints are in circulation, These are not fake coz they were printed at the official printers and they are identical to the numbered editions. There are indeed, they are snide back door prints unsanctioned by Banksy, and not technically Banksy prints as the 750 or so that he had printed for distribution are accounted for. If the buyer bought it, fully aware of the situation, then shame on them, if the buyer wasn't informed of ALL the facts and the very strong relevance of provenance / numbering etc, then very big shame on the sellerespecially if they are a leading member of this forum, as they have none of the suposed ignorance related to the usual sods who deal in these back door prints. Who sold it to you nikeros?
I do not want to disclose that, it is my error that I relied totally on ebay feedback...
anyway, just to stress, ebay feedback is not enough to assess if something is original or not...
Anyway, someone should not classify himself as a "Banksy trader" if he wants to sell also copies and potential fakes.... is like walking into an Armani shop to buy an Armani suit made in China... ;D

Banksy โข Turf War Print โข 2003, by nikeros1974 on Oct 3, 2006 13:09:45 GMT 1, Hi there,
I bought, more than one year ago, a not numbered Churchill print on ebay, if I remember well, from a active user of this forum.
When I got it, I though "s**t, this is a fake" given the missing numeration.
Some of you are saying here that not signed and not numbered is an existing phenomenon.... so, could mine be an original?

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by nikeros1974 on Jun 19, 2007 1:44:25 GMT 1, I was at the auction today. When the first Micallef was presented (the one on the cover of the catalogue - the Angel), the Sothebys woman announced that there were a lot of potential bidders on the phones; the fight was run by two guys in the room, no one on the phone bid at all... I guess they were a lot, but with much lower reserve prices. Similar story for the McDonald Angel...
Regarding the Banksys, there is not too much to say: I think that, in relative value terms, the "Authorized graffiti area" was a the real deal, given that it is a unique piece!

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by nikeros1974 on Jun 19, 2007 1:40:21 GMT 1, This is probably a dumb question but I'm not really clued up on taxes, any help would be appreciated. If you sell an expensive work of art and use the proceeds to fund your business (an art producing business, not an art dealing business) is the money exempt from taxes? Everything would be above board and the money would be funding materials, premises etc... thanks.
If the piece costs more than 6k you are supposed to pay taxes, no matter what...

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by nikeros1974 on Jun 18, 2007 23:48:10 GMT 1, We could discuss 2 years about the approach followed by the man.
I really think that the gain made the student on "Riot Green" should be almost compared to a bet - so tax exempt, given that it was not doing that as business or normal activity, but it was just a one off. Anyway, law is law

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by nikeros1974 on Jun 18, 2007 23:39:19 GMT 1, What assets do not lead to a CGT charge?
Some assets are exempt. For example, you will not have to pay CGT on
* your private car * cash held in sterling * any foreign currency held for your own or your family's personal use * jewellery, paintings, antiques and other personal effects that are individually worth ยฃ6,000 or less (if you have a set, for example a set of chess figures - you do not pay CGT if the value of the set as a whole is ยฃ6,000 or less) * Savings Certificates, Premium Bonds and British Savings Bonds * UK Government stocks ("Gilts") * assets held in an Individual Savings Account (ISA) or Personal Equity Plan (PEP) * betting, lottery or pools winnings * personal injury compensation.

Ebay Price Boom!, by nikeros1974 on Oct 20, 2006 9:23:50 GMT 1, Must be said that when everything started probably not everyone kept the receipts (who could imagine that a 50 quid print would be worth more than 1k in one year's time?
An authentication session is necessary

In this picture it is really a stunning piece of art.
