Rolex Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by searchandrescue on Feb 1, 2017 19:59:13 GMT 1, I think that you would be pleasantly surprised by the grade of South London watches. I can not think of any watch that holds - or increases - it's value more than a Rolex. If you want your money back in 5 years time, with interest, go for the rolex, if it's class your after, go for a Patek Philippe Calatrava...... There are some very high quality fakes around nowadays...... South Londoners are never sold these unknowingly, as they are not easily fooled, nor gullible! "Eyes on the prize!" thank you wisky, too true! A very dear friend has a reverso, just delightful, regardless! Quite like the utilitarian idea of a rolex still being symbolic. True story, a mate down my local got 2x xxxxxx xxxxxxx off a cheeky monkey for a bag of sand! Still drinking there hoping I will be there when that happens next!!! More chance of winning the lottery!

Rolex Collectors โ Buy & Sell, by searchandrescue on Feb 1, 2017 11:34:49 GMT 1, Ahoy ship mates!
Due to some exciting news may be joining the massed ranks of those lucky individuals who own a rolex timepiece. Starting at the bottom of the market, looking perhaps to buy 2nd hand. Aware of many of my dear friends and colleagues who have them, but the are commonly of the south london pub variety, and to put it mildly seldom "work" for a living as we may commonly understand it! So slightly reluctant to go down that route. Any help would be appreciated.
Kindest Regards,
SAR

Banksy Records - why the rise in value, by searchandrescue on Jan 27, 2017 21:59:20 GMT 1, forgive me for interrupting, used to do a bit of crate digging spending sunny days (when everyone was in the park playing footy) in basements of record shops, blah blah years ago, these were common as muck, wasn't really interested then, not really interested now.....guess it's like anything....
[Switches to Indianna Jones and Dr. Renรฉ Belloq looking at a shit watch]
"Look at this. It's worthless - ten dollars from a vendor in the street. But I take it, I bury it in the sand for a thousand years, it becomes priceless"

Recommend a classic tv series, by searchandrescue on Jan 27, 2017 20:35:39 GMT 1, Operation Good Guys. Operation Good Guys is a British mockumentary series about an elite police unit's bid to snare one of Britain's most powerful crime lords. It was first screened on BBC Two from 29 December 1997 to 31 August 2000. It witnesses, on camera, the total breakdown, professionally and personally, of the Operation Good Guys team. Throughout the operation, The 'Good Guys' have an unfortunate habit of embroiling into their calamitous world some of the country's best-known celebrities, from actors and footballers, to TV presenters and even the odd ex-convict. It was created by Ray Burdis and co written by Ray Burdis, Hugo Blick and Dominic Anciano, although much of the dialogue was improvised by the actors. was about to ask if this was even a thing....then remembered I only started watching tv 'bout 2004\5? as prior to that I was out raving and rug taking.

Recommend a classic tv series, by searchandrescue on Jan 26, 2017 22:34:19 GMT 1, Minder and Lovejoy are two of my all time favorites. I did all the xfiles 200 plus episodes last year, it was a grind at times... I agree, I met a one or two Lovejoys in my time. Minder was a classic and one always felt safe knowing terry Mcann was out there. I bought the complete X Files episodes too from the beginning to the end. I haven't watched the new series yet though. X Files depends on the mood as some episodes verge on horror and others more light hearted and spooky. Invaders was a personal fav., anyone old enough to remember when it was on instead of neighbours??? .. No?? [insert Dr Kildare] Didn't think so. "David Vincent.. a man too tired to continue....blah blah...blahh a huge white wall sedan scrunching gravel and stopping like an underfilled waterbed! tv brilliance!"

Skiing in France, by searchandrescue on Jan 26, 2017 22:29:17 GMT 1, Why not? I don't ski but visited Annecy one december and went up the slopes. It's a beautiful place. Germans para skiing got in the way though. Went for a week. Within two hours on first day had bad fall, even though on nursery slope. Ski should have come off. It didn't. Dislocated knee cap and torn ligaments. Rest of week in chalet, daily injections in the stomach. Could not get out. Flown home separate from family. Operation. From what I saw in two hours, I agree, the scenery was lovely. there's always one coach, .....sometimes there's two but there is always one!!!!!!

Artists You Might Not Know, by searchandrescue on Dec 16, 2016 11:25:46 GMT 1, Inspired by andyroo0312 and Viking Surfer Thought I would introduce a friend of mine on here that lives in Sydney. Not exactly a street artist but has done a few pieces here and there. Most recently a collaboration with with Gillie and Marc. "Born in America, Sydney-based Kim Leutwyler migrated to Australia in 2012. She works in a variety of media including painting, installation, ceramics, printmedia and drawing. Kim holds concurrent bachelor degrees in Studio and Art History from Arizona State University, and additionally graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Painting and Drawing degree. Kimโs current work takes its form in paintings dealing with images of beauty, gender and Queer-identity. She has come to focus on painting as a medium because of its primarily masculine history in the western art canon. By entering into the modernist painting field Kim hopes to destabilize gender borders just as LGBTQ artists have been doing since the 70โs and earlier. Her artwork has been exhibited in multiple galleries throughout the United States and Australia. Leutwyler's recent accolades include being selected as a finalist in the 2015 Archibald Prize, 2016 Bluethumb Art Prize, 2016 John Copes Portrait Prize and the 2016 Portia Geach Memorial Award. She recently won the Midsumma Visual Arts Guide Cover Competition, and her painting is the hero image for the 2016 LGBTQ Festival in Melbourne, Australia." Art World Heroes and Influences: Robert Rauschenberg Jake and Dinos Chapman Marcus Harvey Jenny Saville Kehinde Wiley Margherita Manzelli Mark Gleason Geoff Farnsworth Ben Quilty Ai Weiwei Romaine Brooks Here are some of her works that I liked quite a bit. 2015 Archibald Prize Finalist for this one thanks augustg, a compelling body of work

UV Protection Glass โข Museum Glass, by searchandrescue on Dec 12, 2016 13:08:25 GMT 1, I decided to go for museum quality, low reflection as I intend to own everything I frame for years and years. The costs are alot more than 'standard framing' and I'm really not a man of means but I'm doing my collection slowly and what I perceive to be well. I try and think about it spread over many years and the number of times I'll look at them. For me, the low reflective quality is incredible - almost as if there is no glass at all and when put next to reflective glass is astonishing. UV stuff is for piece of mind but I'm willing to accept that that might be a slight waste of money with some of the things I'm framing. I would plump for low glare / reflection glass above everything as it changes the viewing experience. My assumption has always been that it only comes in UV glass so that decision is made for me also. ....a great way of looking at it ed, much of what I do / have, has to have a long term value, sometimes very long value!! Eeeck! If you believe something has value you must be able to set aside for its upkeep over the long term.
