Christie's Art Auctions , by Cardiff on Mar 26, 2024 18:59:46 GMT 1, Can someone explain the mechanics of purchasing a work that went unsold at auction. Is it worth reaching out and making an offer even if it's below the low estimate? Any guidance would be appreciated. I wouldn't recommend it. I hear that works that are bought in are generally not allowed back into consignment in the near future. You can probably contact the auction house for a private sale though. Thanks for the advice and perspective!

Christie's Art Auctions , by Cardiff on Mar 26, 2024 18:43:19 GMT 1, Not much to celebrate from this sale. You’d be gutted if you’d paid in the region of £60k for a Harland “This is where it’s at” back in the day. Ouch. Not defending HM prices in any way but the condition report was really rough on this one.

George Condo 🇺🇸 New Print Release • Print For Sale, by Cardiff on Mar 19, 2024 1:05:15 GMT 1, I'm sure there are some forumites keeping their allocations quiet, but I can only count about 10 of these that were called out as allocated on this thread...be interesting to know how many of the other 400 were placed into a new collector base for AA.

Your best 2023 buy!!, by Cardiff on Jan 24, 2024 22:25:10 GMT 1, Fairly quiet year last year purchase wise. My favourite acquisition from last year was this painting by Barry McGee from a group show in LA. It only arrived in January 2024 and I have paired it with a kinetic sculpture by Barry that I bought back in 2020. It was from his retrospective that travelled from Berkeley Museum of Art to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston etc. Excuse the blotchy walls as I am in the middle of decorating. Great pick up Neil…that animated sculpture is just mental and the new piece completes the presentation perfectly!

George Condo 🇺🇸 New Print Release • Print For Sale, by Cardiff on Jan 24, 2024 15:58:29 GMT 1, (do a quick search on what you can buy by Condo for 6K). Quite a lot actually. I looked on artsy and there's a number of pieces selling for less than 6K. Admittedly, some of them aren't signed. (I'm guessing the AA ones are signed???). Not trying to argue or convince you of anything...I just don't see anything close to these when I click the limited edition filter and look at what's available.

George Condo 🇺🇸 New Print Release • Print For Sale, by Cardiff on Jan 23, 2024 21:04:25 GMT 1, Sounds like they're moving more in a blue chip artist direction with Condo and Ruscha...good for them. Not sure why anyone would have an issue with the Condo pieces...way better imagery than any of his previous editions and priced incredibly affordably (do a quick search on what you can buy by Condo for 6K).
That said, they didn't reply to my emails when they were selling Parra sculptures...got no chance of hearing back now.

George Condo 🇺🇸 New Print Release • Print For Sale, by Cardiff on Jan 23, 2024 0:11:07 GMT 1, How would you compare them to any of the editions he’s done to date? Do you think the black and white one or droopy dog are better? It’s of course subjective whether you like these or not, and of course you’re within your right not to like them. But I happen to think they’re strong. I also think they’re leap years better than previous editions which have done well over time. Just my 2 cents. They're better than the previous editions, but those editions were pretty bad. The droopy dog was nice at the time but feels very dated now. I'd prefer an image with a white background with colorful abstractions like one of these. These are both spectacular!

David Yarrow , by Cardiff on Jan 21, 2024 3:56:06 GMT 1, Yarrow was in our town for a new gallery opening last night (also the first weekend of Sundance Film Festival so quite the scene). We really enjoyed the 45ish min talk he delivered...definitely gave us a ton more respect and appreciation for his process, work, and him as a person. We really dug his larger format works and ended up buying our first piece. Congrats! Let's see it Don't have a pic from the opening, but it's this one. He took it in December at our favorite local watering hole the No Name Saloon. Framed dimensions are 6' x 9'.
