Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by tonysantos2001 on Sept 21, 2013 19:55:54 GMT 1, I reckon its the fact that Banksy is a concept....a doorway.....a yellow brick road. Or maybe Banksy is coming out...he's gay....yeah that must be it. Oh f**k....i just said that out loud! Seriously tho, Banksy hasnt stopped selling art has he. Its just under pseudonyms isnt it. Ffs. I think we can be pretty pretty sure that one of those "Pseudonyms" ISN'T "BAMBI" though ha ha ha!
If you see how his style progressed and changed, well if you look carefully out there I'm pretty pretty sure that you can find some of his "other" pieces! BE CAREFUL though, ALL artists have had assistants leave and go on to produce there own stuff in a very similar style so you might end up with one of those instead! That said, you should really be buying a piece of art because you like it, if it ends up an investment than that's just a bonus!

Banksy - Better Out Than In - New York - BOTI, by tonysantos2001 on Sept 21, 2013 19:43:07 GMT 1, I guess this means that he's "Put The Band Back Together" then?! Well this will be a welcome distraction if you ask me, take away from all those idiots that have been making claims to be the "next Banksy" or using old prints as a cry for attention for there pathetic little shows (I HATE when people do that) I for one say "Welcome Back" to him and his gang! Your still in the gang though right ? I'm SURE that we ALL know of somebody that is my friend!
Interesting to note that some people of late have been trying to shift "Choose Your Weapons" at the inflated prices that have been doing the rounds, could this of been that they had "insider knowledge" or just coincidental timing?!
Either way, I would hold off buying that print if I were anybody, prices will drop a few grand after this!

10 years from now I should have bought a....??, by tonysantos2001 on Aug 8, 2013 19:57:38 GMT 1, Agree with what Mmmike says above!
Their are SO many chancers on the whole modern art scene, not even mentioning the street art (vomits!) scene!
My advice is AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE anything with an amusing pun, trying to be cleaver, too smart for their own good pieces or anything that mixes contemporary icons in to new settings, see also one of the many tracers and photoshop artists that are doing the rounds all claiming to be "The Next Banksy" (Not gonna name names but think we all know a few self promoting artists that fit the bill) Infact, any artist making ANY mention of Banksy should be given a wide birth, Anybody adding the word Banksy after any of the following words. The new, The Female, The Black, The American, The Disabled, The Young, feel free to add your own to the list

BANKSY CYW FOR SALE, by tonysantos2001 on Aug 6, 2013 18:54:20 GMT 1, I think it's so so sad that these Warm greys seem to be popping up, were these not the prints for "genuine" fans that got shafted in the queue shenanigans?!
Sad state of affairs, but I guess if you really need the money you would be daft not to sell! Thing is, are you gonna be kinking yourself in a few years time or have you made the right move now?!

PHLEGM "THE MOOR" PIECES FOR SALE., by tonysantos2001 on Aug 5, 2013 18:32:27 GMT 1, Not sure if I should post but I know peoples mixed views on buying street art, this though is a bit different.
I've been approached via a third party to ask if I was interested in buying any of the panels from the piece that PHLEGM did on the MOOR in Sheffield. Now it turns out that some, if not MOST of the panels got destroyed in the demolition process but the Landlord has actually kept a few of the panels for sale! Now I know that PHLEGM artwork (as in canvasses or small paintings) are as rare as hens teeth so figured I would give you all the heads up!
Now I personally am not interested but I know it might be of interest to somebody so if you are then here's the guys e-mail address samwilson2099@aol.com
Hope that helps?! Ta!

ORIGINAL PHLEGM painting., by tonysantos2001 on Jun 3, 2013 19:00:08 GMT 1, Right, just an update but I've had a few messages suggesting that I'm a bad person for even thinking of buying one of these PHLEGM pieces so I just want to ask a question.
The buildings that these paintings came from have BEEN DEMOLISHED as part of the MOOR regeneration plan in Sheffield City Centre. Indeed, if you go down there now you can see that many paintings have been destroyed, you can see them broken and smashed apart.
Now the landlord salvaged a few pieces and is selling them. Would people rather that they be destroyed forever like some parts of the mural or is it good that some pieces have been saved?! I'm starting to wonder if I should buy one or not.
:/
Advice needed...........HELP!

ORIGINAL PHLEGM painting., by tonysantos2001 on Jun 3, 2013 1:08:50 GMT 1, Ok, in Sheffield city centre there's LOADS of redevelopment going on, he's a landlord of a few properties and pieces had been sprayed on buildings that he owns (along with other artists that I mentioned) that have now been demolished, like I said he tried selling some BUBBA2000 pieces back to me, I asked what else he had and he showed me!
He has some MASSIVE pieces that I think will probably end up being sold privately but he had some small details that were obviously part of bigger pieces but were destroyed so he's cut them down, probably about 12 inches by 16 inches.
The most AMAZING piece is on a slab of granite, amazing as I can't believe that it wasn't destroyed in the demolition.

ORIGINAL PHLEGM painting., by tonysantos2001 on Jun 2, 2013 18:08:53 GMT 1, It's defo not that piece, I had no idea that his stuff had been robbed if truth be told.
The guy selling it is a landlord of a building that was knocked down a few months ago, he also had a few other pieces going like Kid Acne and Mila K, as well as my old mate Bubba2000, which is how he got in contact with me offering to "sell" it back to me/him ha ha ha!
I've tried posting pictures before but no joy, if somebody can tell me how I'll try and get a pic of it!

ORIGINAL PHLEGM painting., by tonysantos2001 on Jun 2, 2013 15:53:17 GMT 1, Ok, just a quickie but I've been contacted recently by somebody that is selling an original PHLEGM piece, the piece is 4 foot by 6 foot and displays one of his characters painted on board. Now the thing is I know that PHLEGM originals (Paintings) are as rare as hens teeth! If just wondering if this is worth its value as they're wanting four figures for it.
By the way, would be buying for my collection, NOT to flip, just want to be sure I'm not getting fleeced, just that I've tried to do research into how much his paintings are going for and hitting a dead end!
Any idea how much I should be expecting to pay?! Considering his prints that were ยฃ100 new are being flipped for ยฃ300+
Thanks guys!

On Banksy's long silence, by tonysantos2001 on Apr 23, 2013 21:15:30 GMT 1, SIGH! No, no I don't quite think so! Y'know, quite a few people on this board are beginning to pi$$ me right off! It's supposed to be a forum for fans of street art yet SOME members come across as so cynical and jaded it makes me want to vomit! why can't some of you guys just chill out yeah?! I know too many people that have joined and been treated like dirt for posting on here! You insinuate that you know something, but don't reveal any info at all. I insinuate that you may have an agenda. Yes, I've grown cynical through the years and not without reason.
OoOOoOOooo, looks like somebodies in a fighting kinda mood this evening!
Sir, I've only thrown my suggestions in to the ring, suggestions that, to be honest many other people on this board have probably thought! As it stands there are people on this board that know EXACTLY what's going on, not to suggest that I'm one of them but don't you think that somebody else could of said something? Somebody with a greater knowledge or are you just interested as you're only interested in when the next print is going to drop?! Fact is the man is at a point in his career where he can pick and choose, and, if I was a betting man I would look more at the Directing avenue for his future whilst still producing works of art! Chris Morris has done exactly the same thing, now Directing episodes of the Armando Iannuchi show "Veep" in the States. The internet is always going to be full of armchair conspiracy theorists, tis the nature of the beast! In time it'll all come out, in a week, a month, a year maybe?! But lets not start speculating or name calling or jumping to conclusions yeah?! You think it might be that he's just enjoying having some down time with his young family after a chaotic past 10 years?! All the while still working on and developing new ideas?! That's personally what I think he's doing (YES, you can quote me on THAT!) In the meantime there'll be plenty of no talent hacks, tracers etc etc with ideas that, in all honesty wouldn't even be worth printing as a sketch cartoon in the sun, all the while claiming that they're "The NEW Banksy" but not really understanding the point! I can think of one that's ripped him off in the past for attention that, coincidently, is part of a group show at a gallery in Ladbrook Grove right around the corner from where that NEW "Banksy" has appeared, almost to the same day of opening in fact! Maybe a lot of people would be better spent calling out these frauds on there Facebook groups.
You're welcome.

On Banksy's long silence, by tonysantos2001 on Apr 23, 2013 16:45:04 GMT 1, Lets be honest, if any of you knew exactly what was going on you would lose your $hit! Yeah there's lots of rip off artists trying to make a name by copying the mans style and sense of humour (and failing miserably) but lets not forget that "Banksy" as he was back in the day (pre 1999) is no more! All artists get to a stage where they have a team, or dare I even say it, but "Assistants" producing work for/with an artist. It might be that they all had a falling out about money and the fact that one or more of these assistants wanted to go along, spread their wings and all that only to find their hands were tied?! Have you all thought or at least considered the idea that he's STILL producing work under a different name and location?! Maybe has been for quite some time, years maybe The rabbit hole goes deeper folks! Are you trying to create more publicity for yourself, BUBBA2000, Tend to offend?

This talk of a move to the U.S. I find interesting, he moved to a new studio space a while back (as can be seen in the photo on Banksy.co.uk) so that must be one HELL of a commute if so!
