Don't try to jam these square pegs into a round hole. You'll never make them fit.
Germany's VARIOUS & GOULD join Brooklyn's SPECTER at Brooklynite Gallery in the workshop; an assembly-line of drilling, cutting, painting, pounding and pasting to create a show about work and workers.
SPECTER goes for the sculptural and literal to depict his workers - re-fashioning found objects like bikes and shopping carts into frank open portraits of delivery guys and bottle re-cyclers, among others. VARIOUS & GOULD metaphorically consider the changing job descriptions in an increasingly digital age with memories of an industrial one, throws in a splash of DaDa with a poppy panoply of fluorescent washes, and hilarity ensues!

The weather in NYC is perfect. the outdoor space is consumed by the artists with tons of treats.... We expect to interview Specter and Various & Gould. Wooster Collective is expected to be here and we will see if they will speak on camera as well. Actually alot of artists will be here tonight. Let's see who will be willing to show their face on camera.
Show starts at 7 (NY TIME - EASTERN)-- maybe a few tech problems in the beginning as their always are but stick with us-- This will be fun.

There were some unexpected camera issues that set us back early on. We strive to always put our best foot forward and for those of you that stayed awake to see what was an amazing opening here ---we truly apologize for the sound issues. We will be testing our system earlier than usual and will be sure to have a better show for DOLK & M-CITY.

As many of you know, since we started Brooklynite Gallery in 2008, we've asked each artist(s) to create a handmade flyer to help promote their show, as well as give people a small piece of FREE artwork.
Although the logistics of putting these small little projects together can be very challenging and costly, the gesture has been a huge success. So much so that we've run into a bit of a dilemma.
Many of you have emailed us asking how it would be possible to crack the mailing list and receive these little beauties? Some have even offered chocolate and/or brew as a barter. Well we had a little chin wag about it and figured... Surely some people on the list are not concerned with these invites and wouldn't give a damn if we took them off the list-- (We like to call these people, "dead weights"). But how can we determine who the "dead weights" are?
Take the factors mentioned above and then add the costs of materials, printing, envelopes, postage, carbon foot-prints and bottles of aspirin --and these "dead weights" are simply holding you other chaps back from a fine framed piece of artwork to hang on your wall.
So here's what we've come up with---
Starting with our upcoming exhibition, "SURFACE TENSION" for Guy Denning & David Walker we will begin to list the invites in our on-line SHOP section. If you truly want one, simply click on the image and pay ONLY the postage amount (NO ADDED FEES) and the invite is yours. NO begging. NO biases.
We hope this will give some new people an opportunity to get their hands one.
Please note: Although nothing is ever perfect, we will be closely monitoring this new system with the help of some highly accredited quality control specialists at BP.

Mine defo do get framed and displayed, and I love them!
