[HASH]ABC Yes, it's in the UK...No secret..it's in Lovely's Gallery in Margate- the oldest gallery/art shop in Kent. The venue is not massive or known here but it's local to me and the Family have been in the art world for over 120 years (http://www.lovelysgallery.co.uk/gallery) I have known the owner for a long time and they have such a knowledge of art it's crazy. They approached me a while back (I get all my stuff framed there) which was surprising as they do not have an "Urban art type following" but for me they were excited and interested in my work which was important for me. There will be a PDF available prior to the opening on the 11th (preview 10th) which will run for a month. |

'Exposure to the Elements' by Antony Collings Friday 10 July 7pm - 9pm
Antony Collings - Exposure to the Elements
Runs from Saturday 11 July - Saturday 8 August
From the South East of England, Antony grew up in the 80's on a diet of skate and hip-hop culture. Whilst studying Art and Design, he was given an assignment titled "Decay" Unbeknown that the same project would later kick-start an obsession for decaying walls, texture and predominantly the layers of flaking paint that those years of weathering and neglect produce.
Working in a variety of mediums including, Oils, Acrylic, Spray Paint and old worn posters, Antony creates contemporary abstract works by building multiple layers then scraping them back to mirror decayed walls within our urban environment.
In preparation for his upcoming solo exhibition at Lovelys Antony Collings has made a video of himself at work on one of his paintings, giving us an insight as to how he creates them.
