Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by BlackRatPress on Jan 12, 2008 18:10:21 GMT 1, Black Rat Print Show - 16.02.2008 There comes a time in every collectors life where he wonders whether that giclee they bought really could have been done as a screenprint. And whether a 2 plate etching with screenprinted elements really is the king of all print techniques. What about that 120 colour screenprint you are sure that someone mentioned once. Is it really wise to go with the 410gsm paper as opposed to a 300gsm with 2 varnishes? Finally whether its necessary to use A La poupee when inking a zinc plate with a scrim or whether by using a combination of spit bite and sugar-lift on a soft ground you could avoid it. We have all asked ourselves these questions and in our next show we intend to answer them (or at least the printers will give it a good go).
Saturday 16th February will see the opening of our first exhibition dedicated to the art of printmaking. This event will include live printing demonstrations, an opportunity to ask the legendary black rat printers (well reasonable well known in a small village in the midlands) any geeky printmaking questions you may have, new editions by lots of artists including, Dface, Swoon, Slinkachu, Nick Walker, Blek Le Rat and possibly if we can find him, Matt Small. Plus prints by new artists plus (yes there is more) unique trial proofs made over the past year by all of the artists above and more including Dface collages, Blek monoprints, Prints on Steel, Prints on Card etc etc
More details will be posted closer to the time - to recieve an invite to the show please make sure you are signed up to our newsletter mailing list.
Best wishes BRP

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by themightyreds on Nov 22, 2007 22:38:21 GMT 1, I was there earlier - lots of good stuff on show... wasn't too taken with the piece in question, but some of the other versions of Pop Tart were great. The ones on acrylic were overpriced i think at £6000 a go but the screenprint + collage versions would be in my collection now if they weren't all sold when i got there... at 6.15!
Will try and get pics uploaded in a bit.

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by delpipero on Nov 22, 2007 22:42:11 GMT 1, HI EVERYONE
Got back from the BRP show a few hrs ago - the D Face Lenticular is AMAZING. So much so that i did a very silly thing and had to buy one. Edition of 70 for.........1,200 quid.
Now that is a hell of a lot
but it is totally unique. its a DSTQ image against a union jack backround that morphs into a skull and then turns into flames as you rotate past the image - very different and totally unique.
the other stand out print there in my opinion was the nick walker image of London with spray paint on the houses of parliament
on this evidence D*Face is definately going to earn his place in the sun in 2008
now i just have to hide it from the wife....
