Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by ejvaze on Nov 23, 2007 12:54:31 GMT 1, I was there too A great show I bought a Blek and D*Face Lenticular which was super.
Took my hubby who is usually very reserved when it comes to putting his hand in his pocket when it comes to art buying but he bought the Blek print and the DFace for me. ;D We had left the show and got to Lenoard St where I had left my car and he said lets go back and see if there were any D*Face Lenticulars left, raced back and found Bigman collecting his and much to my relief 7 left. We bought one and I think someone else bought one right after us at the end of the show so there may be 5 left from the 70 on sale. Not bad going. These are my 1st Blek and D*Face and I am very happy. The D*Face is already up on the wall.
The acrylics were super loved the 2 sold but out of my price bracket.
A great evening, all the usual suspects Carlito, FPR and Crackawacka Met a few more from the forum, Bigman who's avatar does him no justice a really nice fella with his nice wife too and James who will have to remind me of his forum name but I am sure he will know who I mean.

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by finsburyparkranger on Nov 23, 2007 13:47:15 GMT 1, Personally thought Matt small stole the show (and no, i don't own any of his work), really, really good. Same style as we all know and love but bigger and better. My critical eye wondered why D*face wanted to use the show to be derivative of his own work that was derivative in the first place (selling montage dead marilyns that were basically ripped prints) and then more marilyns and then the main piece being another dead person. However did love the 'lenticular' and did almost buy one on the never never but managed to stay strong. It was the first time to my knowledge that technology has been used within this genre and for that reason it will always be remembered and will remain a classic in my eyes. Really well lit show as well and the beer was endless. Also a nice crowd i thought.
Oh yeah, the best piece actually was a blek print and its still available. Really great image of a cheer leader snapping her stick or whatever you call it. Strong, rebellious, positive image. Great xmas presie for daughters or wags.

I couldn't quite work that out from looking at the pics on BRP, I just thought she had two drum sticks ;D It makes much more sense now you've explained what's going on.

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by robinbanks on Nov 23, 2007 14:51:51 GMT 1, I acquired my first Nick Walker last night - well chuffed. I've been looking forward to this one for quite a while. Not quite sure why it cost more than the Bristol version but was happy to pay it all the same. Was slightly miffed that they charged me £12 for postage though, and said that it wouldn't be possible for me to collect it myself .
I really think that these prints will stand the test of time and be one of the most sought after prints of our generation (behind almost every Banksy no doubt) - still can't believe two chancers have stuck theirs on eBay for £800 already though!

That's not too cool... I didn't fancy the £12 postal charge (risk) either but when i asked they were fine about me collecting the print... just said to call them next week to get a collection time. I'd ring them to ask about it.

If I had the money for an original piece from the show mine would have gone on one of his. No slight on the other artists, just the colour and depth of Matt's pieces were amazing ;D

Cheers mate - I'll give em a buzz on Monday. Not sure why they told me I couldn't collect - surely they're not that fussed about a £3-£4 mark-up on postage?

The great thing about fiickr is that above the photo where it says 'all sizes' you can enlarge the photo to around 4 times the size of the page and look in detail at the print/photo.

BRP Matt Small Prints are really good in quality and image but with Mr Small its all about the originals.

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by a4mnt on Nov 24, 2007 19:29:29 GMT 1, I might as well put my ten pence worth in.
Must admit, i'm not a massive fan of Dface. I just think the things sticking out of the head has been done to death. Get over it. The lenticular was a clever gadget for attention, but for me, its nothing more. Thats just my opinion and not meant to smite it in anyway for all those people I saw dragging one home.
The large Blek was great. In the right, sparcely decorated, canary wharf apartment, i can imagine it looking great.
None of the prints made me want to get my credit card out, but that is a combination of using it too much and also finally growing a discerning ability to say no. Oh, and no more wall space. Saying that, parts of the Nick walker print i liked, but the paint dripping off the building was just too simplistic and too street for me. Once again, just my opinion. Cheerleader didn't ruffle my pom poms and so i escaped with nothing more than a few new friends and some fuzzy memories of trying to decide with Bigman what type of Italian car that Carlito was. We decided on a Fiat ;D
Matt Small's stuff was lush as usual. As for Matt, what a trooper. he has time for everyone (that he remembers). Carlito always gets a playful punch when he sees him. What a sound geezer. I believe Nick Walker was there as well? Didn't see him but might have seen an oversized flat cap above the crowd.
Anyone else see Bez, or was Ratmasourus just tripping out?
I thought I saw Vic Reeves leaving. That was before I started drinking........
**Oh yeah, Vazie, the person you are thinking of is Tyler Durden. He's the forum's male model
