Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by craigf on Feb 16, 2008 22:49:06 GMT 1, Just got back, saw one forum member (Insite, nice to see you mate ;D ) inside, I'm sure more of you were there, but that you were also well ahead of me in the q!
I got there about 3:50 and queued for about 1:45.
Although there was nothing "new" from Dface the CliChe's on metal were pretty stunning. There was also a variation on a blue pop tart on a note, which I liked a lot and the ripped CliChe also looked great.
Matt Small got back for when I was there. Seemed like a really nice guy and spent time with the kids that had been dragged there by their parents His VCR's were pretty amazing.
Everything was pretty well sorted, but bloody cold in the q
I also went to Laz earlier in the day and got what I was told was the fourth from last signed Connor Harrington book. I also got to choose which one I wanted from the pile (which was more than 4 as some were waiting to be picked up). Got what I think was one of the best painted ones, i'll post a piccie in the am ;D

were the Blek rats just one stencil at different angles and thus a bit 'simple' in the flesh?

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by spanksy on Feb 16, 2008 23:16:21 GMT 1, Thanks for the great photos. Bit disappointed with the D' stuff all-round, very uninspiring which is a great shame. Agree. I think the simple PopTart images on different color backgrounds at the LeVine show were simpler and much more appealing.
they had two pop tarts ed 1/2 on what looked to be cardboard which were quite cool. i agree with the consensus i wanted more from dface. i was tempted with the metal che's but the colour i liked was already gone by the time i got in and i already have the che print so i gave it a miss.
also to add i was queing from 8.30 in the morning to make sure i got in in the first batch to grab a collage or a low edition print from , and was fucking gutted when some tosser infront of me pushed his whole family in front of me and others 1 hour from the opening, and made us miss out on the first entry. he claimed that they would not be buying anything, yet they all had plenty of invoices and i even saw the cheeky cunt trying to pay someone to buy him another street improvement print, when he already had 4 to his name. wanker
that put a downer on what was another great show from BRP and what a wicked guy matt smalls is. great talent.

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by yapsey on Feb 16, 2008 23:43:00 GMT 1, just got back - i managed to nab a d*face death and glory collage (the one with the speech bubbles about the dishwasher, not the walmart one), the blue d*face print, and blek le rat space cowboy...... so it's a lot of pasta and beans on toast for me...
i turned up at about 2:45, was about the third lot in. was fascinating to how the prints were made. i got a chance to speak to the guys there for a little bit, but it was mostly about how great i thought the stuff they made was, not how they actually made them. still, lovely people.
met a couple of people from the forum - straddle to name one (met you in the d*face queue!! - have a good trip back!), nice to put some faces to names.
all in all a great show!

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by tomjedimaster on Feb 17, 2008 0:00:55 GMT 1, just got back as well. i froze my balls off, my mrs froze her tits off.
the matty smalls tape decks and VCRs and his two prints on metal were excellent.
the show was cool, but not worth lining up for two hours (unless you were intending to fork out some cash for some of the goods on show). at least at alton towers you get a ride at the end of it.

Matt Small was very cool as was his art but best bit for me, I own a unique Blek, Rats edition of 20 monograph (?) prints all different. Very simple but pretty amazing looking.

Black Rat Press • Black Rat Projects, by jusdeep on Feb 17, 2008 1:21:03 GMT 1, Totally agree with most of what has been said about the show. A little bit of a let down after spending and hour and a half queuing in the freezing cold for a disappointing D*Face print. A bit of a snap decision and went for Street Improvement 2 to justify catching pneumonia. All the people there were cool enough but there did seem to be a lot of toffs with available cash buying up art with daddy's money. Matt Small's new work was very impressive though - the VCR's were very nice with some great paint effects. D*Face stuff was much the same as the White Noise show, but I was impressed with the metal Ché's. Overall it would have been nice to seen something new from him instead of more tear-up collage pieces. Hopefully he's working on something great for later in the year.

Trip back to Scotland tommorow, but happy with my purchases and also the show. Had a great time, lots of good street art on the walk down that I had only seen photos of in the past.
Looking forward to coming back down for some more shows in the future.
