This may be a very dumb question...but...did were any of the stamps actually stamp size and actually stamps (wee little thingies with gum on the back!!) or are they all actually prints???

A friend had a signed Union Jack Queens Head jigsaw (with a piece missing) which looks amazing when framed. This was one of the first things he produced for the Aquarium gallery so I imagine they are pretty rare to find though. Definitely worth a punt if you can find one.

What Rockhopper said is right, just to say though i like the 2nd class just for the colour (saddo).

A lot of them were released by the Aquarium/Cauty as "real" stamps. Gummed back, stamp size, etc. You could also buy them on first day covers. They're usually on eBay.

They released 2 books. Stamps Of Mass Distruction Volumes 1 & 2. Volume 1 can be picked up for under a tenner sometimes. While volume 1 was a more limited affair and can cost over £150. Volume 2 should come with a sheet of cauty stamps inside (2 versions, later editions had deleted stamps on the sheet). You'll find a lot of eBayers split the books and stamps to fleece, sorry, sell them seperately.

If you're buying any Pop editions, make sure they're properly stamped, and not "bootleg" or later editions that are still being churned out by people. They also released a box set of smaller prints that were unstamped. These all got split and are all over eBay. Some go for crazy money, but they're later editions and a bit w@nk really. imho

Yeah, it's very confusing. The orginal, limited signed prints were released in normal and pop editions. Then everything was culled.

Then all of a sudden more editions came out that were from Cauty and labelled as rejects or something? There was a show where people got loads of these. I actually lost track after a while.

As for the special defaced box set. I think there were 10 released. It came with a note talking about the legal disputes and the prints were in a special clam-shell type thing. It was 3/400 quid I think and I don't seem to be able to find anything on google either? Very strange. I don't think I have EVER seen it on ebay, and I have a saved search that's been running for years.

There is so much stuff on ebay at the moment...one of them seems to be a book that is being picked apart and sold page by page...I think it is too much for my small brain to cope with...

They actually sold pages by themselves, which you could then put in a book yourself, so that could be what you are seeing...strange isn't it?

Christ...even more confused although being a fan of KLF this may all be part of the Cauty Masterplan...this was a guy who burnt 1000000 pounds sterling after all!!!!

The original 1st (possibly 2nd & 3rd) class stamp of mass distruction was published by art republic. All other stamps were published by the aquarium.
Any official rejects should be stamped aquarium reject and marked why rejected.
Pop editions were unsigned, all large prints were signed and stamped. Early prints were stamped blacksmoke, later ones were stamped cnpd.
Some of the large prints are very rare, having been culled before selling out.
