The lady in the picture is the Queen, Betsy Ross never wore a crown about the place, as far as i know anyway....
it's a hybrid innit. couldn't find one single photograph of betsy ross (google is rubbish) but there was this painting or something. some similarities - although it seems that this betsy ross only has five fingers.

FYI, there is no proof to the fact that Betsy Ross made the first flag... it's all legend that became popular 100 years after it supposedly happened because of a story her grandson wrote.

The original tune to the first US national anthem was the same as that for GSTQ. Neil researched all the songs on Americana and found the most original versions he could to use those for the lyrics ( at least) of the versions he recorded with Crazy Horse. In the process he discovered that the song was originally used as the US national anthem and the tune used as the basis for My Country, Tis Of Thee was that from GSTQ. Thus I presume Sheps came up with the idea of linking the two via the Queen and the Stars and Stripes as icons of each country. If you need to know anything about the other images you'll do well to read the booklet notes to the album.
