Miss Bugs "Dreamscape Guide", by Phear Loathing on Sept 26, 2012 0:50:53 GMT 1, There is a thread on ebeans where I shared this so I figured I should do the same here. Thank you to everyone who bought pieces from my collection over the last few months. The only way I was able to make this happen. Most of it sold here on this board, so again, thanks!

I will say this. THe place I live in deserves in no way the art that inhibits it.

Miss Bugs "Dreamscape Guide", by kultur on Sept 26, 2012 21:03:54 GMT 1, I like Miss Bugs work, but do they actually ever use any of their own art and ideas? I take it back... maybe I like parts of Miss Bugs work because I like the elements they "steal" "copy" "imitate" "forge". Everything is always a derivative of someone else and usually very famous. Haring, Hirst, Klimt, etc... how do they get away with it?
Why does no one complain about it being copied? (either on this forum or collectors in general) I hear so often on here that some artist is not original... yet I do not think anyone has mentioned Miss Bugs in this.

Miss Bugs "Dreamscape Guide", by Ottomatik on Sept 27, 2012 14:11:22 GMT 1, I am biased. However, I see MB taking bits of other artist work and creating their own unique image. Their work is very involved and labor intensive. Yes, even the prints. (that is why they do not often have large editions) Look at Elements of Everyone. I can't imagine how much time was put into each print. MB have this Picasso quote on their website: 'If there is something to steal, I steal it!' So they are upfront with their method of creating. For me, when I look at any of my MB pieces, I have never think.. 'Man, why did they have to copy Warhol/Lichtenstein/Hirst?'...etc Those elements are so minute, they appear to be an enhancement of the subject, not the subject itself. Look at Banksy and his print Choose Your Weapon. That KH dog is close to 50% of the image. If anything, the elements used in a MB piece is less than 5%.
Again, you all know I'm a HUGE MB fan. As I said, I'm a little biased.
Everyone likes what they like. Not much is original anymore. I like when something old is revisited and refreshed. My goal is not to speak for MB or to convert you. But come on, you can't say that Dreamscape Guide isn't AMAZING and original.

Miss Bugs "Dreamscape Guide", by nrgball on Sept 27, 2012 17:10:13 GMT 1, When I look at a piece of art/artist, I find myself asking the question. Will this creation last? Will I enjoy this piece for years to come? And will this image/artist stand the test of time?
I find that many artists from the street art movement will eventually fade. Miss Bugs, IMHO, and their work will be one of the artists left standing as time passes. I feel that they are well ahead of their time and will receive more recognition as the outside art world gets knowledge of their work. I'm not an art critic by any stretch. But I've got an eye and a good feeling. And this particular image is quite special. I'm very jealous but happy for you Phear. Very nice acquisition to your collection.

Miss Bugs "Dreamscape Guide", by Phear Loathing on Sept 27, 2012 17:54:14 GMT 1, I am clearly very biased so I will keep most of my comments to myself. I will say that the re-imaging of images is part of what I love. They blend old and new, different genres, different themes, into one unit. I actually feel this is very ahead of their time as well.
Not to mention their eye for color, shapes, and designs is excellent.
As ilmambo already posted the Hirst image, here is another source image used.
