Charming Baker LA show, by Dice on Apr 28, 2013 10:58:54 GMT 1, Strange really as nothing more has gone into it to justify the higher price tag of ยฃ7000 vs ยฃ600. Still a screenprint on paper albeit a lower edition. Wasn't that impressed.
They had loads of older secondary prints like the planes, estella etc as well as some rare (different to normal run) bird i proofs and some others for ยฃ1500 + vat if anyone has deep enough pockets.

Charming Baker LA show, by iamzero on Apr 29, 2013 7:03:45 GMT 1, I'll try to upload some pictures later as for some reason I can upload images to my Flickr account from the phone but can't figure out how to get the bb code?
That panda head is massive but looks amazing, you'd need a huge room to really appreciate it. Neither of the new plane or bird print were on display and shot dog ap got sold from the stand too. Snow globes and view masters were for sale along with signed copies of the book. The Bird i proof was nice with both the positive and negative of the bird in pencil. Not sure if they were selling copies of the LA Live prints but having had mine I can't see how they haven't sold out yet with them being a bargain for the quality and amount. I love all the images with the mice one just edging it for me but have a friend of mine that is splitting a set after keeping the ones he wants so may have an astronaut for sale if anyone's interested?
Overall the show looked great from a Jealous point of view and some nice Harland Miller pieces on other stands.

Charming Baker LA show, by seagull on Apr 29, 2013 13:17:15 GMT 1, So what's everyone view on splitting the LA lives and flipping them on eBay? Only cause I have my favourites and the cash would be helpful.
Obviously it would be nice to offer them to forum members first.

Charming Baker LA show, by iamzero on Apr 29, 2013 16:46:22 GMT 1, I thought the bird would be by far and away the best out if the set but I don't think it is having laid them all out. I kinda see why you would sell individual prints but there's no way I'd split mine up.

Charming Baker LA show, by seagull on Apr 29, 2013 18:07:05 GMT 1, see, for me its the planes and astronauts as the best. I do like the Bird and Mice and not such a fan of the cars. Would be great to see all five framed up on a wall together.
yeah it might be difficult letting one go. The Cars would be the candidate.

So the sets being sold now don't have the stamp? Reason why I ask is mine's in the westcountry and I won't be able to pick it up and take a look for a few more weeks. Any chance you could post a pic? If they are stampless, one or two of them will definitely make the wall.

Yup - it is wood. And the words are lasered out of it ( as with the original - although that may have been done by hand)
The frame is a thing of beauty in itself. John Jones have done the print proud and it's essentially a part of the piece.

Charming Baker LA show, by cktbreaker on May 4, 2013 15:08:05 GMT 1, Hey Nipper, do you know how they secured Cunt Struck to the frame? I saw four screw heads in the back, was wondering if those went into four wood dowls that were somehow connected to the board (artwork). I tried to buy a framed one buy they only had unframed versions at the time.

Charming Baker LA show, by Sweetcorn on May 4, 2013 18:37:26 GMT 1, An unsigned open edition that was ยฃ20 a couple of weeks back... Happy to be educated if there's a genuine reason for the hike but having spent a fair few quid on CB recently it leaves a bit of a bitter taste having not bought one first time around as I didn't think there was any rush. I called the gallery after the art fair and bought a signed copy over the phone, It arrived this morning with a tote bag.
The book is great if anyones thinking of buying

Hi ckt - interesting that they were available unframed. I did see them in foil packs but hadn't thought about that. I think they are only available framed here.
Anyway to your question...the back looks like this:
I can't see how the board is attached though. It's 'floating' within the frame so the bolts in the back must be attached to something that then holds the board / print in place. It's definitely held firmly!
Sorry not to be more help.

Charming Baker LA show, by iamzero on May 4, 2013 23:57:21 GMT 1, I would imagine a block of wood attached by adhesive to the back of the artwork and then mechanically fixed to the backboard? I saw some unframed pieces at the gallery last week.

That would be usual. Build a simple wooden structure, attach that to the back of the piece with acid free tape, and then screw that to the back of the frame. Expect (but dont know for sure) that this is what has been done here.

Charming Baker LA show, by cktbreaker on May 5, 2013 0:11:22 GMT 1, I believe they told me the frame was $800. My cost for an unframed "God's Gift" was $2250 plus 9% LA county tax $202 = $2452 unframed.
I really love the frame on that one, the wood is nice quality and the splines add a nice touch, although I don't think they are necessary as it's not a heavy piece of art.

Through no fault of theirs my Bird iii print arrived damaged and within a week or so it was all sorted with a replacement copy sent out - friendly, professional and quick - fantastic!
Has anyone had their bird iii print framed yet? Looking for ideas / inspiration!
