Charming Baker π¬π§ Paintings β’ Print Release β’ For Sale , by Shoot Again on Mar 9, 2012 13:19:40 GMT 1, On 10th September 2011, Dreweatts auctioned a painting by UK painter Charming Baker. In both our printed and digital catalogue for the Urban Contemporary Auction we inadvertently and wrongly described Charming Baker as a graffiti artist.
We would like to correct this statement and make it clear that Mr Baker is not a graffiti artist. Rather, he is a fine artist who studied at Central St Martins College of Art in London. We recognise that graffiti is illegal, that Mr Baker has never participated in any such activity and that the insinuation that he has could cause serious damage to Mr Baker's reputation as a fine artist.
Dreweatts, therefore, unreservedly apologises to Mr Baker for the incorrect statements made in the catalogues mentioned above and for any damage caused to Mr Baker and his reputation as a fine artist.

Is it someone affiliated to others from the 1st Category? Is it someone whose collector base collects works from artists of the 1st category?

IMO this doesn't in anyway detract from the quality of his work and subject matter, and the quality of jealous prints are second to none.
On the other hand maybe there's truth in comments posted here that his prices have peaked. If so the "apology" may well have been instigated by CBs management as a result of the low secondary market price realised by Dreweatts (35k) . His pieces at everything must go were priced circa 70k so a low secondary market price wouldnt go down well with CBs management?
Saying that apparently all his new works for the 2012 nyc show have all been sold- maybe someone has seen the Dreweatts auction results and have asked for a refund/discount

I'm sure this apology was all instigated by Bakers rock and roll promoter Magnarella. And I'm sure Magnarella is also behind engineering Bakers high auction results. I used to like Bakers work ok, but this guy is not next level. He will never be important. And this fiasco of hiring a rock superstar to jumpstart your career is going to crash and burn just like most rock superstars careers crash and burn. I'd be extremely wary of buying this guys work at this point.
This guy is rubbish and I hope his art tumbles dramatically in price... I will glad relieve anyone out there of their Panda Boy prints or Gorilla/ Intelligence.... piece or Shot In The Arse for that matter for a knock down price so you no longer have to look at this shoddy work.
