Charming Baker π¬π§ Paintings β’ Print Release β’ For Sale , by sneakerfreak on Jan 23, 2013 23:59:17 GMT 1, Spoke to the Jealous guys last week and it sounds as if there is a ton of effort going into this for 4 days! sounds BIG: suggest the hanger and the 'Try not to always think the Worst' print sounds like a theme - great print  - Wish I had the cash to get across there for it - understand the prints will be available over here as well though in early March, 4 in total. Can't wait to see them in the flesh. Plane and the horses esp look good, although if one of the horses is on wood it sounds like its could be £££

That's what I was told too.
I've also seen some pictures of the centrepiece of the show which is going to be huge. They certainly need a hangar...

Winter is right- there will be live printing each day in LA and they won't be previewed at Art 13 beforehand.
However, given there is likely to be interest amongst what has just been described to me as the 'Charming Baker faithful' , Jealous are looking to bring some sets of the 'LA live' prints back for people not able to get to the show. I'm sure details on how those would be made available will be forthcoming at some stage.
Given Jealous are rather fond of producing badges, I've made a bid for a 'CBF' badge to be produced. They may or may not just ignore me!

Much as I like old charming after a couple of years off I had hoped for some progression from old, he's been doing this stuff for about 5 years now. Studios in Hollywood=big PR for big spenders and A list investors like hirst but where is the artistic development? He's rich now so why rock the boat I guess. In 20 years are we going to look back and say 'wow that guy really broke boundaries and changed the way we think about art'? No. Hype, the Internet, and PR seem to make artists popular these days, I'd love to be enlightened by any big fans out there as I really dont understand how his paintings command so much money and why he is so 'popular'.

Green Day over in London for a show, saw his work, Charming has show in States, their 'connections' in the art world came to show and bought it up and a star was born. This success has been from a small group of powerful people buying up the Baker brand and then the rest following.The end.
His art in parts can be quite wonderful, it has to be said, whether you can quantify this with the prices, well welcome to a market which is loaded...

Shotguns, drill holes, the V&A mouse/bike sculpture, live printing, a style of his own, incredible quality prints kept at low prices and possible the best show I've been to in London. I don't think he's boring at all.

I say kudos to him and wish him all the best. I still remember when I first saw his work not being won over but the more i read about him got me intrigued then i looked into his pieces finding items I liked. Once I finally met him I thought what an awesome dude! Im now a big fan with several items in my collection....so maybe some bias
