I was lucky enough to get to speak to Charming Baker at length about most of the pieces from "Everything Must Go" when I rolled up late on one of the Sunday's, actually walked round the lot, asking questions all the way. I felt genuinely honoured to have had the time alone with the artist. Mr Baker is truly a lovely, humble and funny bloke!
His explanation of the "God's Gift" piece is that the dog is him, cowering at his wife's beauty - literally cunt struck by her. As a (quite common) Londoner, I'm familiar with the phrase and get the sentiment behind it - I don't know if it travels well though...

Gold plane is now sold out apparently except for a few saved for LA.

Someone mentioned numbers on the website not changing and I'm told the number remaining function isnt working as it should and Louise is correcting them each morning. No danger of oversales they think but watching those numbers may not be indicative of what is actually left.

Only specific CB prints sell, many of the last releases still sit in gallery drawers unsold, he is pushing into another market now. The unsold prints will sell after the new editions, because someone wants one of his works but most will not pay the current prices.

I think that one has a red dot on the label as of a week ago if it is the one on the wall. May be best to double check though.

Anyone else go for the dog print? Looked the business with the shot blast. Someone bought a snow globe as we were leaving... Very jealous.

A really good day yesterday all round. I even got to have dinner at St John's in Archway sitting looking at their wall of pictures with some old friends. Some of the art is good, some not but the food is always great.

As mentioned by another member, CB seems to be moving on to a different market now, I think the Half Pint will always be perceived as his defining image tho.
