Dran • I Love You, by sparx on Jul 30, 2014 19:09:24 GMT 1, Hello everyone! Sadly I lost a member of my family last year, and I inherited a folder of Street Art. The folder has sat under the bed since it happened and forgotten about. It's only recently that I found this lovely site and found out that at least one of the pieces is worth some money.
At the time my lost family member was doing really well for himself and buying up street art, some to hang and some purely for investment purposes, the folder I have falls into the 2nd category leaving me with no emotional ties to it.
You may see my flickr page to see everything.
Having previously posted on here I was advised that the Dran 'I Love You' could be worth upwards of £4k to the right person. I'm not looking for that much but offers above £2.6k will seal a deal. I am based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and due to me reading about some scammers and charlatans, I will only sell face to face, this is the only way I can see both parties being 100% satisfied.
The artwork - I dont know much about the artwork other than the advice people on this site have given me. It was a print run of 50, the black ink boy was the print, Dran then added the wax crayon image on the wall of different girls. This is edition 30/50 and as such features the multi-coloured signature. It was originally purchased from pictures on walls (see photo). Other than what you can see, there is a thumb print on the reverse which I guess is Dran's? The artwork is well stored and in mint condition. It is not framed.
I will do my best to answer all questions but as stated, I am by no means an expert!!!

Dran • I Love You, by dueuomo on Jul 30, 2014 20:27:56 GMT 1, Dran really seems to be a selling commodity! Three for sale only today!
It was overpriced before or there is expectation that its price will collapse in the near future. Let's hope something similar will happen with Banksy's prints.
OP your price is right on the mark and I really like this example of ILY! good luck with your sale! it should find a new home soon!

You seem adamnent on drans "market collapse". You do realize the number of works he has produced a d the number of pieces to hit the market are vastly different. There are about 0 decent originals out there for purchase.
I think that speaks volumes ( trust me I look constantly and quit frankly wish prices would drop)
Not sure what your angle is.

You do realize the number of works he has produced a d the number of pieces to hit the market are vastly different. There are about 0 decent originals out there for purchase. I think that speaks volumes ( trust me I look constantly and quit frankly wish prices would drop) Not sure what your angle is. 1) I have no particular angle. Actually I just posted yesterday night the pics of an ILY and an IHC hanging in my living room, plus I have one of those hand finished bookmarks. So I really have no incentive to talk price down.
2) If you looked constantly, I think you missed few things.
3) Due to my forma mentis I'll speak with numbers:
Starting in June we had only on the forum: 3 ILY, 3 IHC, 3 LTF, 2 Originals on canvas, one small drawing (and I might have missed some). In two months! And I am not considering (a) the less popular prints such as Price Crash, Exhibit, 100 jours or Art Thief; (b) the ones sold only via email, I got few of those both original and hand finished prints by forum members (c) the ones on ebay (right now there is another LTF and a canvas there)
To get to a sale of an original or ILY before June we need to go back at least to October.
Now if you think that the increase in supply is totally random, well I disagree. Statistically, I can assure you that it is very very unlikely as well. It might be that they all need to remodel the kitchen or going to Hawaii now, but it still need to be explained why they are selling the Drans more than anything else.
My two cents: he has not produced much, the last print release was quite a failure, so people are taking advantage of the hyped price to exit now, because if things continue like that, the market for Dran will deteriorate in the near future.
As I said, I hope he will produce something nice soon, because I will be there buying, but not admitting that these have been few months in which who had a Dran tried to sell it is quite ridiculous in my opinion. OP, I paid quite more than 2.6k for my ILY in May, so I really have no desire to see his secondary market collapsing anytime soon (actually do not care at all because I do not sell) Good luck with the sale!

that being said, think there is some truth to what you say, but as Wiz said, that's too much thinking for a street art forum

Enjoy your "statistics."
Though I am not certain i don't think your sample size is large enough to be remotely valid.
I will say this; I sold an original a few months ago and still get messages about it on almost a weekly basis ( people asking if still for sale or if I have access to others)
Cheers

I could reply harshly, but I do not really see the point. dueuomo : I'd say don't take all this banter too seriously, people are teasing you a bit (fair enough) about your "statistics" but considering the amount of money involved (thousands, not hundreds) certainly nobody can blame you for doing your homework before and after such expensive purchases of yours. However, I do agree that statistics don't really apply here, especially with such a small-random panel of numbers and bear in mind that with those DRAN ILY & CHALKS it's all about the quality of the image itself. You know that better than anybody as you wisely took so long to pick up the ones that were right for YOU ;-) There is certainly a vast difference of appeal amongst all of them which completely justifies that prices can vary quite a bit from one to the other.
From what I see (I know nothing though !) you've certainly bought two of the very best specimen out there, both certainly deserving a premium to the majority of the other ones (at least in MY eyes, and I emphasize "MY"), so yes you paid quite more than price now offered by sparx (who wants to sell quickly and face to face only ... which warrants a discount) but rightly so IMO as yours is simply better than most. Same applies to CHALKS for which some can't sell at £3K and some other, like yours, will easily fetch £4K. Never forget that those prints are not equally appealing, so prices will always vary, simple rule ;-) Same for the 100j drawings...
Things are probably still a bit raw for you as it took you so long to secure your 2 babies, so I understand you're a bit concerned to now see a few coming back at the same time while you struggled for so long, but you shouldn't, that's just a good thing for DRAN's market and fan basis : new buyers, new collectors who will now follow his Art with even more attention... Collectors are shifting pieces in their collections all the time, whether it's because it's part of upgrading it or simply because they just need the money at the time. Don't overthink all this too much, everything just can't always be rationally explained...
DRAN's prints certainly have had a great run, so some people are just cashing in (nothing wrong with that), some will be putting that money back into even more expensive (original) artworks from same artists (like me), some won't. IMO DRAN' market is certainly not about to weaken, quite the opposite actually... which didn't prevent me from selling 2 hand-finished prints ! See, you might think it's stupid then for me to sell, I don't see it that way, just used some of the money to upgrade my collection... Everybody is happy ;-)
Anyway, ENJOY YOUR ART NOW, don't freak out about DRAN's market about to collapse... he certainly have so much more still to offer... you won't be disappointed ;-)

I'm sure people here can advise you on prices if you need help. (Although be prepared for some "discussion", as above )
