While I'm sensitive to those that are significantly upside down with Neate, I'm thrilled that some of his better work is at more attainable prices. I think he's one of the most interesting and talented artists in any scene and is definitely high on my list of WTBs. Speaking as a self-centered American, I can't believe that it can be a sustainable representation strategy to not show his work in the USA. I seriously hope Elm's/Adam rethinks their strategy on that front...it drives me insane that I have to fly to the other side of the world to see his work in person.

Interesting to know how easy it is for western contemporary artists such as Neate, who I imagine is relatively unknown to the Chinese market to break into it. Isn't the Chinese market still dominated by their homegrown artists?

It is to some extent yes, but like most countries they have a fascination with other cultures. Most of that domination is due to the lack of Western artists exhibiting there, it's still early days but the market is strong.

I would like to see Mr. Neate change things up a bit in regards to how he is being managed.
I wasn't aware of Neate until after his rise and fall in popularity around here. When I first discovered his work, I was absolutely amazed that he was getting more attention. Looking through past sales and threads discussing his work, it is apparent he was appreciated. Uncertain why his work doesn't get the same amount of attention today...can only think it has to do with management.

I'm happy to have an early canvas of his! Considered selling a couple months ago only to fund a Graffiti World box, but the seller and I couldn't reach agreement. Would love to add a larger piece to my collection....hopefully can come across a steal like this!

Are you telling me that our A/P of the cold war is not worth the 1100pounds it cost from Elms 2 years ago? That was a great deal and a favor at the time....hope an A/P will still hold its value at 1100 pounds it is stunning in person... cheers!

Not sure of the point of this thread but anyway not sure also I understand the knocking of Elms.

adam works and produces they sell and market. He earns they earn more importantly they all have a great relationship. Or should he chase round the world chasing galleries and shows instead of doing his art.

he has Elms to do this and they take great stands just for him in all the major Asian shows they have their gallery in London for domestic shows they just do not chase the US market but also that has been down in recent times so maybe that will change.

it also reduces the flipping market as you can buy from Elms who sell his work at a decent price. Why buy from an inflated priced piece when you can buy from them. The point is you obviously do not know what your talking about as they sell edition, small canvases, medium and larger ones. Only the biggest are in the range you quote so again why pay an inflated auction price when you can buy from them. You think he would be cheaper if other galleries were selling?

Yes all well and good but your wrong on the pricing. Listed by Dreweats 6- 8 K. I bought a much better small canvas by him for 8k off Elms in Singapore and a larger red one for 15k.

So the price the cardboard. Piece got at auction is probably about right. The pieces supplied to auction and the prices set at auction are not set by Elms.

So as you can see the price you are quoting for Elms is wrong. No idea where you got 40k from but it is just not correct.

So check your facts before posting

Interesting thread developing here and I sense a certain amount of frustration being vented by those who may have seen their (probably not insignificant) investment in Neate reduce over the last 5 years.

Neate is one of the few UK street artists that has successfully moved into the contemporary art space and as a result of Elms alleged "mis-management" he now has a significant base of wealthy global collectors, who are responsible in part for fuelling the prices set by the gallery. If Elms have enough new work to satisfy the market, then why should they feel obliged to take his secondary market work on to their books, or be criticised for not doing so? To me, he is still one of the most talented artists of our generation, constantly evolving his style and developing his craft and I am sure that in 10 years time he will be truly recognised as one of the great contemporary artists of our time and his prices will have risen considerably as a result.

My final point (as has been said numerous times before) is only buy the art you like and pay what you think a piece is worth - if it ends-up appreciating in value then that is a bonus.

I do feel that the way he launched his career leaving pieces on the street was great. He then had some decent shows and his work was (and is) great quality and better than many other bigger named artist (IMO). I'm not convinced staying with Elms has helped him to progress his career although he is still young and has a massive future ahead. Not sure who is driving the Asian market thing but I think he should be pushing on from here even if that means getting new representation.

are high on his list of priorities. He is more concerned with his work. He makes it they
Sell it and iit works for him. His concept as an artist seems much more longer term
