Rubbish! One was a musical icon that died far too young, the other a henpecked pothead who couldn't be arsed getting out of bed.

Sorry but you can't compare Kurt Cobain as good as he was with John Lennon.....IMO

D*Face Lennon, by jboy on Nov 10, 2007 13:12:43 GMT 1, Nirvana make me feel sick, its screachy and whiney and depressing. Very over rated music IMO. I would have said MIKA is more inspirational than the smack head.
'im on a plane, i can't complain' repeated 50 times in one minute is not a song and its fucking shit.

Not at all mate... I seriously think they were, and I know a fair few people who will agree. A huge case of bandwagonism... yes they were reasonable song writers, but none of them could sing. They copied a lot of the American music from the same era and had the PR / screaming girl fanbase to put a spin on it. Compare them to The Who, The Stones etc and they're nowhere. Look through their songs they've ripped off (note I didn't say have been influenced by but ripped off) people as diverse as Chuck Berry, Bobby Parker and Delbert McClinton whether it be lyrics (almost word for word) or guitar riffs... Their only real influence is that they were the first boy band, the Take That of their generation.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing people the Beatles were good.

I quite like Nirvana, not a monumental fan but I thought they were good. As for what I like now...
I've just clicked into iTunes and asked for a party shuffle (random 20 songs playlist)
It is thus: 36 Degrees - Placebo Hot on the Heels of Love - DJ Hell Blackout - Hybrid Jericho - The Prodigy Vapour Trails - Starecase Magic Dust - Natious Where White Boys Dance - Killers You're a Nightmare - Pulp Angry Skies - Tilt Brain Damage - Pink Floyd Solid Space Business - Attaboy Nobody's Home - Ulrich Schnauss ZeroTonine - Junkie XL Shadowplay - Joy Division Ultra Vixens - Thomas Heckman Living for the Weekend - Sugababes Live at the Electric Ballroom - Erol Alkan Keep what ya Got - Ian Brown Balla Con il Ritmo - Cyclone Tracy Digital Memories - Guy Gerber
