New Adam Neate Editions, by jusdeep on Aug 11, 2013 9:50:33 GMT 1, Good to see a few forum members at Elms yesterday. Was fascinating to see the translation from originals to editions, but for me 'Hug' from the last releases would be my preferred choice. The lenticular self-portrait of Adam was nice and I quite liked the nude but I overall felt they were a little too one dimensional, or in some cases hard to view. For example the blue portrait was so lenticular it viewed as a blur and was almost like viewing the original with someones else's spectacles. It was almost as if the technology and technique wasn't advanced enough to do the originals justice in some cases. Don't know if that sounds right, but hopefully you get my point.

Strange how different eyes see different things (which is a good thing). For me, the Triptych lenticular didn't work as well as the blue and orange, which i thought worked very well. I wonder what causes the differences? Height? Visual processing in the cortex? Colours? The prevailing light?

Buy the art to put on the wall and enjoy it, not worry about the value. Elms have priced these correctly so that those who want to buy are doing so for the right reasons.

Yes will be really interesting what happens next. His work from last October def moved on when I saw him in Sing. Since then he has produced all this which is a serious amount of work. Will be really interesting to see where he goes to next or how he develops these things.
people often criticize the Elms relationship but it obviously does allow him that additional time to develop these amazing shows that show big movements and progress since the last one. I know this is the first editions show but from a couple of pieces last year to this body of work is quite extraordinary. He has also produced new works for four Asian exhibitions in that time

Have to agree art should never be judged like this but in this case I also think they are priced well. Take of the vat, the john jones framing, the materials and time spent on them by many people and compare that to other artists work. When you see them up close the quality speaks or itself, 10 years from now I should have bough a ......?

At ยฃ3-ยฃ4k is a massive hike and alot of money to most peopl to 'enjoy'!! But never see again Yes they are worth the money but what in saying us that you won't get it back if you ever need to cash in, there is no secondary market for neate !! It just isn't there that's why I have seen recent large works selling for ยฃ7l that were ยฃ20 k primary

Think the lenticulars were not far away from this price last time and sold.

New Adam Neate Editions, by johnnyh on Aug 11, 2013 14:50:44 GMT 1, Think in a sense Adam and Elms are kinda controlling the secondary market price in that why pay an inflated high price for the hug when you can buy a new piece direct for a similar price. Same happens with the originals he will have a new batch I am sure in October plus more for the Asian shows.
So in a sense the new market sets the guide to the secondary. Hug stunning piece 1300 wine drinker 1500. Now not seen the wine drinker in the flesh but let's say is the Hug on the secondary market worth 250, 500, even 750 more than the wine drinker. Whatever there is the price. Some will say no I will just buy a wine drinker at 1500. Same with originals pretty sure although not announced he will do similar to last year interms of shows and production of pieces. So a secondary piece is worth it's value in comparison to a new piece whether that is more or less but will not be massively more. So buyers will make that comparison. You can see from the last year he is not short of ideas or new pieces. Elms as mentioned earlier with Adam make sure everything is finished top notch whether that's pieces, books, posters The show posters they do alone are just stunning and top quality. Mega production on them this follows through the pieces. For this reason do not think he is a buying selling market but what pieces on your wall. Stunning
