I mean has anyone actually paid this kind of money for real? (Except einstein who seems to have endless cash to offer for these... no offence intended!)
I have to say I'm dubious of all these prices at the moment and people offering huge amounts. Seems to be a strange, recent thing.
Expressobeans seems to have a few sales at $11K, but most seem to be around $6K and have come down from $7/8K in 2010.
(Just from having a quick look, not scientific!)
I haven't tried to buy one, so I guess that's the real test... but all seems very inflated... more than usual!!

I agree, it all looks a bit suspect, but if you pay what you are happy to pay it's nothing to do with the rest of us.

This is a really good point. I think there are some crazy prices being thrown around.

The man knows what he is talking about, IMO. £6k and it will fly in a private deal. £7k+ is edition 25 status.

I'm intrigued by irrational markets, psychology and why people who sell something (unless they need the money) that they bought for £450 for £7000 and not for £2000 when released. Why's £7000 attractive and not £6000? How many are in flat files and how many adorn the walls of football player's houses?
Why the older prints (especially the signed ones) aren't more expensive given their rarity?
I'd be delighted to accompany Ms Piper in the Tardis to check out Banksy prices in a decade, whether Dolk will be worth more and MBW more than both!

Two Choose Your Weapon's have sold at auction thus far (and I'm not talking eBay!):

One CYW went unsold at ArtCurial in January this year, although the estimate was high at €14-16,000.
People will have their views as to whether this represents 'market value' - I suspect most on here will argue that these results should be ignored when determining market value (me included!) although the fact of the matter is high end collectors will only reference these two sales, and will be oblivious to what people are paying for these on forums/ eBay etc. Either way, my point here is two-fold (1) I've no doubt these results would have played a part in the increase in prices in the past year, and (2) why would a collector (eg. Jody) sell for less than £7k when they could consign and, based on these results, have a good chance of selling for significantly more?
Having said that, given the large increase in price in the past year, I'm certainly tempted to cash in (especially if collectors/ dealers are offering £8k), and I've no doubt others would as well!
