Keith Haring, by Feral Things on Aug 2, 2013 17:41:25 GMT 1, My apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere but I couldn't find a thread about it and I just happened to stumble across the exhibition on Miss Van's Instagram. There's a major Keith Haring retrospective running at two sites in Paris: 'The Political Line' at Musรฉe dโArt Moderne and 'Grande Formats' at Le CENTQUATRE. The xhibition closes on 18th August, so there's only a couple of weeks to go.
"The Musรฉe dโArt Moderne de la Ville de Paris, in association with Le CENTQUATRE, is devoting a wide-ranging retrospective to American artist Keith Haring (1958-1990). The exhibition will bear witness to the importance of Haring's work, in particular its profoundly "political" content, apparent in his work throughout his career. Almost 250 pictures on canvas and tarpaulins and from subway walls โ as well as twenty monumental works โ will be exhibited at Le CENTQUATRE, making this one of the largest presentations of Keith Haringโs works ever.
Keith Haring was one of the most well-known artists of his time, and even today his inimitable style, with its strong, graphic line and repertoire of emblematic signs, remains familiar to all. Beginning with Documenta 7 in 1982, his work was exhibited alongside that of Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Jenny Holzer and Daniel Buren, as well in museums and biennials around the world."
I think Haring is an incredible artist, so I'm very jealous of anyone who does get to catch this one.

Keith Haring, by Feral Things on May 2, 2014 18:07:51 GMT 1, Jeffrey Deitch's excellent book on Keith Haring has been republished to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the artist's birth (happy birthday for Sunday, Keith). It's a fantastic book with loads of photos of his sketches, sub-way drawings, canvases and murals as well as lots of personal photos and insightful writing. It's only ยฃ30 which I thought was excellent value considering it's over 400 pages long. The ISBN for anyone who wants to order a copy from their local, tax-paying bookshop is 9780847842988

Also my version is in German. But it seems like it is the same book. Which seems like a straight up bargain for 30GBP.

Keith Haring, by Feral Things on May 2, 2014 19:49:05 GMT 1, Yep! It's a reissue so that'll be the one, @json. I think books published on the continent have the text on their spines the other way around, or at least all the art books I have from France and Italy are that way around. I don't know why but it does mildly bug me

i think there maybe a little bit of exaggeration on the price quoted above
I would put it at around ยฃ50
So maybe around the median give or take 50% either side

I love the expression "I just found a LOAD of Haring pieces" as if he was out walking the dog and spotted something poking out from under a bush.

Keith Haring, by mmmike on May 4, 2014 18:35:42 GMT 1, They look great, maybe too great. these sorts of things pop up on ebay way too often. How do you get comfortable that they are real? (lots of questionably pieces are on 80's movie poster). Those posters are still easy to source. I haven't seen any Hairngs on old non movie advertisements which if legit would be more common than movie posters I would think. But if fake, i'm sure it would be easier to find old movie posters than old random subway ads. hope they are legit, either way they look great.
