Wooster Collective, by Wearology on May 25, 2010 23:38:00 GMT 1, Great piece - nice to see artists showing support - According to international law BP has the legal right to blow up it's own pipeline that is damaged and it will immediately stop the flow of the oil. The problem for BP is that once they blow up the pipeline they legally forfeit their future rights to pump from that pipeline - So there is a solution - it's just not in BP's financial interest to do it!!!!!!!!!!! Now back to art -

May I ask where you came across this particular piece of info? Have you got a link? doesn't ring true to me but happy to be proved wrong.
I don't see how blowing anything up is going to help. The oil is coming out under pressure and the equipment that was meant to seal the well in case of emergencies (the blowout preventer) has failed. I would have thought explosives would be more likely to make the problem worse, not better. Also, tomorrow they are going to try and permanently kill the well and fill it with concrete so I don't think there are any plans to reuse this particular well in future. Again, not defending BP, but the idea that they could stop it if they wanted to, but its not in their interest to do so, sounds like misinformation to me - I think at this point they would do ANYTHING they could to stop it.

Wooster Collective, by Wearology on May 26, 2010 0:40:09 GMT 1, Brownfield: If we demolish the well using explosives, the investment's gone. They lose hundreds of millions of dollars, from the drilling of the well, plus no lawmaker in his right mind would allow BP to drill again in that same spot. So basically, it's an all-or-nothing thing with BP: They either keep the well alive, or they lose their whole investment and all the oil that they could potentially get from that well. This the article I was quoting from - It's a law journal -

Wooster Collective, by Agent Provocateur on May 26, 2010 13:25:08 GMT 1, Thanks for all the positive comments, I've just managed to reply to everyone that enquired about a canvas... talk about being caught with my proverbials down!
Sorry to get all salesman here, but just so everyone knows, there are only 2 canvases not reserved atm. One is the Upfest'10 special that should be hanging at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol on Saturday 5 / Sunday 6 June, and the other is one of the unique variations.

Wooster Collective, by Agent Provocateur on May 28, 2010 9:35:52 GMT 1, Thanks guys, all the comments have been great. I even think they've plugged the hole!!
And an update on the canvases, all 5 regular and the 3 unique versions have been reserved, but remember there's still the Upfest'10 special that will be hanging down in Bristol the weekend of the 5/6.

Wooster Collective, by BROOKLYNITE on Jan 6, 2011 0:10:49 GMT 1, We are pleased to announce that in the weeks and months ahead we will be launching a series of LIVE CHAT sessions with artists and other creative people on our BROOKLYNITE TV channel that streams 24/7 on our site.
Last night we featured an hour conversation with GUY DENNING, who gave us insight into his past work as well as what he's got coming up. In the past we've spoke with PENNY and EELUS. Plus you never know who will pop in from time to time.
The live chat is done while we stream videos of the artist at work and inspirational bits they choose that could be anything and everything.
YOU as the viewer can simply create a screen name and begin chatting instantly. After each discussion we plan to stream a film of some kind from our library. Could be art related or not. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
TO KICK THINGS OFF:
Thursday, January, 6th at 10PM (UK), 5PM (NY), 2PM (LA) We present: DAVID WALKER
Tune into www.Brooklynitegallery.com (Click on the LIVE TV button to the left) and chat live with David while we stream some of his video selections and talk about what he's up to and more. Sometimes our streaming channel will be directly up on our homepage for events as well.
We also have an evening planned with MARTYN REED founder of NUART FESTIVAL in NORWAY. We will be premiering a special film he's had in the works for sometime now.
Thanks to everyone that has already taken part in these. More to come.
