Thanks bud, i had no false impression that i would win it but wanted to enjoy the small thrill of participation. I still have a permagrin whenever I think back to that bristol trip. That show punched me upside the head and to meet so many different friendly faces all smiling from enjoying the same energy, just fantastic. It was a great morning and afternoon waiting on those steps with you all in anticipation. Much like watching this whole thing unfold all month long online, just a few years older. Nostalgia reaches for a lagavulin..neat.

Its a shame because with all the media hype I was wondering how high that would increase his already high sale prices, but this image I think might soften that blow a bit.
Many private collectors and institutions seem to have no qualms about having a portrait of Chairman Mao, the undisputed champion of democide, hanging on their walls.

Does anyone know if purchasing this piece is tax deductible? That might be a stupid question, but I'm not sure & that certainly could affect the final price... Whenever you buy anything at a charity auction, only the amount you pay over fair market value is tax deductible. I suspect whatever this ultimately sales for will be considered its fair market value. So if the buyer were to try to claim a deduction on his tax returns, he'd likely find himself in a good bit of trouble. |

But never even contemplated a spot on my wall. One of the benefits if Chinese time was that it was at 200K when I logged on this morning so never even entered my head.
Terrible state of affairs when you cannot afford to buy from a thrift shop.....thought I was doing ok as well. When the mrs heard she started talking divorce........mmmmmmm may be not such a bad morning after all
