I would much rather have seen that tagged, so it evolved and became part of the street, even if substantially obscured. Instead it's covered over, so people in a money making food chain can cash in. Balls.
I'm in the minority, but I'd prefer if a random building owner hits the lottery like this as opposed to someone scribbling over it and simply ruining it.
Tagging, like that dude did w/ the Balloon is not art. It's childish.
If someone was to add other actual art to a Banksy piece, to make it collaborative--that'd be cool. But just scribbling over it is much worse than this building owner basically winning the lottery and benefiting from it.

Its a total industrial zone- construction shops,metal works etc.....seemed like they saw all the people/hoopla and mightve asked someone 'whats going on'? then realized they had just 'hit the lottery' and started to cover/take off the door IMO |

Watching the feeding of Omar yesterday was almost as thrilling as watching that monstrosity of a steel door removed in real time to protect the owners net worth. It really gets my mind racing thinking about thoughts I would never have considered otherwise.

Most of the biz places(and many bars/clubs as well) have no signs around here for some reason. Its not like the biz places are looking for walk-in traffic. As for the bars/clubs, they think they are super-cool by not having it(in a hipster-chic kind of way. |
