Just got home & found my Dot print waiting for me, great quality on heavy paper, going to take a while to relax & flatten out I reckon & as mentioned somewhere else the inks smell great !

Mine was rolled pretty tight too & had slipped right to one side of the craft paper, the tube also has 7 semicircular indents in a line evenly spaced down one side - yet amazingly the print is perfect inside ! Going to take an age for it to flatten

You're wasting your time asking that JD, I've tried twice on this thread already....it's just a funny? pretty? happy? picture I guess, haven't a clue myself. Several forum members will tell you that this artist is GREAT and that this print sold out in nanoseconds which means that the image is unimportant.

Until we learn to critically evaluate what we're buying and why, this scene will continue produce artist after artist who think it's fine to place the minimum amount of effort into pushing it forward.

Scratch that, just think about what you're buying for long enough to realise 'nice' doesn't mean you'll like it in a months time.

ddd's gallery produced art has simply followed Dolk/Pobels finincial model whilst adding nothing. In fact going for a less meaningful angle. I'm not sure that's something we should be lauding, or more simply than that buying.

Everyone is of course entitled to buy what they like, but although art and charity aren't mutually connected. This is one print (amongst many in fact ) where that 100 quid should go to a charity instead to my way of thinking of what will make you feel 'nicer'.

Nope! When news of the release of the 'Napoleon' canvases came about I liked it. Hadn't a clue who DOTDOTDOT was. Think I commented on the thread at the time. And when news of the print release was posted on here I still liked it. Didn't think i'd get a sniff of one but got lucky. Not impressed with all his work. This will probably be the only piece by him i'll ever own. I pretty much buy what I like belongs its within my budget. Anyway, keep your eyes peeled, it'll be framed and hung early in the new year. I'll make sure I PM you a picture.

Napoleon is a famous historic figure

In Many iconic pictures of him he's wearing a distinctive hat

The hat is replaced for comedic effect.

The paper hat represents a childlike representation of the real hat, signifying a joke at what his leadership/ wars etc 'meant'.

Now the hard bit is taking analysis and seeing if that grows a warmth in your very soul for the image that means you can not live without it.

 It's a very childish image and any grown man wanting to pay good money for this and hang it on their wall really needs to grow up a bit.
