Dimensions: Each image/sheet: 35 x 23 inches/88.9 x 58.4 cm. Silk screen print on Saunders Waterford 410gm High White paper
A total of 10 prints, plus a cover sheet, in a lipped clamshell portfolio box, measuring 25.5 x 36.75 x 1.6875 inches, hinged on the 36.75" side, covered with Cialux 1581 (unframed) Edition of 100 + 20APs Signed and numbered "KAWS.. 13" on each of the ten prints
Retail price: $24,000, plus all applicable taxes and crating and shipping costs, to be estimated separately.

This will be interesting - the market for KAWS has shown that a yellow Spongebob from an edition of 100 that sold for $800 now sells for $2,200+. As I have one I look forward to its continued rise in price.
So if that's current over $2,200 - and not easily acquired - why not try for an average of $2,400 a print? If as a collector/investor you have the funds these will probably grow in value easily to $4,000-$5,000 a print and you can sell them off individually. His show in Philly at PAFA is big, and he has 2 NYC shows opening Nov 2.
One can probably double their investment on these within 2-3 years.

Personally I like these - I saw many paintings in this imagery at the Philadelphia show, hung salon style to mimic the old masters, and they were great. And my 3 friends, aware of KAWS but not as enthralled, came away from that show with a newfound appreciation.

Kaws print quality is unmatched by any i have seen in person and with the whole set framed you are looking at a total size of over 2.5m X 2m with spaces in between. Absolutly huge! IMO it would have more impact than almost any other artwork you could hang, seems like a pretty good deal to me but i guess it comes down to personal taste and whether you like the artist or not. If anyone on the forum has bought a set i would love to see images of the box and packaging and even better them all hung together. My guess is we will never see anything from Kaws released for less $ than this anytime soon.

I've read two of the other forums, seems like real sour-graping over the 1%, billionaires and millionaires and trustfunders and the fact that he's moved from the world of $300 toys so I'd take their conspiracy thoughts with a grain of salt. It is possible only part of the edition was available, the first Spongebob was available in waves. Time will tell. 8(xx)8 |
