DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by 11 on Nov 21, 2013 14:22:29 GMT 1, This is standard practice - holding back some of the edition that appears online 12-18 months later at or just above market.
Isn't even obvious with an online release but more difficult to hide with a gallery release and very unfair after stating '50 of each - only available in person'
Come on LAZARIDES - do the decent thing and sell what you stated - the full 50

Maybe it just because I'm across the pond but this seems a bit rude toward your patrons. Am I reading the tone incorrectly?

Saw same. I think in the different 'language' it's far less offensive.

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by iamzero on Nov 21, 2013 15:19:58 GMT 1, Agreed but it's also a little rude to take a freshly bought print and bang it on ebay. Not implying that is the case in this point but what are the rules? As far as I can see from previous releases there aren't any.

We've only been waiting hours in the cold for him :/

You're waiting in hours in the cold for the PRINT, not for a meet & greet with Dal.
If there was no print release would you have attended the show on opening night? Honest question.
He probably doesn't want to see Dal bombared by upset print monkeys who were wrongly screwed over by LAZ. They should have released the full 50, had to figure there was at least 10 PPs that they could have held back for his VIPs.

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by twist65 on Nov 21, 2013 15:34:20 GMT 1, Have to agree they've dropped a bit of a b0ll0ck saying that all 50 were available on the night and only to people attending. They should have said only 35 available on the night or something. Not say one thing and seemingly change their minds when there's already a queue outside on the morning of the show..
I don't have a problem with prints being held back, its the norm and if I was a Laz big spender, or had put my name down on one of the ogs from this show, I would be disappointed if I wasn't given the option on a print too. But if they had communicated this from the start then I imagine a few people heading up from dahn sarf just to score a print wouldn't have bothered.. Those early trains from Kings Cross are a good couple of hundred quid too..

Gallery is (rightly) trying to avoid everyone waiting in the line saying the same thing to Dal and talking only about how disappointed/sad they are about not being able get a print when it's out of his control.
Don't get me wrong - LAZ is in the wrong here and trying to cover his ss so the artist doesn't take the wrath of the print monkeys (love this term btw).

Rom is no longer his manager or even better, he was never his manager, just a friend that helps out:
I have released two prints with StreetArtNews, and the blog owner, Rom, organized few walls for me and other artists in Miami last year and found a wall for me and Faith in Paris before. Also, he helped me organize the recent London project. Thatβs all that we have worked on together. So, I donβt have a manager. Iβm just myself. Me and Faith are always traveling around, so many different people and friends are organizing the walls and help us on different projects in different places, and Iβm really grateful to everyone for their help.

Rom was a big help to Dal no doubt but he ended up being a liability in the end. In the end they are friends who did business together. I think Rom always wanted to manage Dal. It just didn't work out.

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by garfunkle on Nov 21, 2013 16:46:04 GMT 1, One on eBay already, with the funniest listing. The guy has no clue what he's brought he only specifys he has 1 print but put pictures up of both. Here is the description:
The print was bought this afternoon from The Outsiders in Newcastle.
I queued from 9.00am this morning and was lucky enough to be in the first 40.
The print is mint condition as received from the gallery.
It will be sent flat packed between some sturdy bits of cardboard, or rolled if the buyer requests. It will be sent royal mail special delivery to UK destinations and a similar international service if sold to abroad. The print will be sent fully insured.
I hav'nt yet had a chance to photograph it properly - i'm waiting until i get home - pics of my actual print to follow.
The print is from an edition of 50 - 40 of these were available from the gallery today. It is signed and numbered by DALeast
If you have any more question just let me know
If requested by the buyer printouts of artwork by dface, eine, faile, stik and dolk will be included.
