Early Banksy Art, by dynamixx on May 29, 2009 17:35:44 GMT 1, Nice finds. I came accross these too recently but can't for the life of me remember where, images were slightly smaller than this, but higher res, it certainly wasn't here or flickr. Very very few if any images of him at work in public existence, so these are pretty special if of course it's him. Don't see any reason for them not to be but who can ever tell? Undecided on the sweater though.

Early Banksy Art, by dynamixx on May 29, 2009 18:00:13 GMT 1, Good call properganda, it wasn't there either though as the ones I saw were larger and not over layered with text, either way same set of images, seems they've been doing the rounds, either way on the basis of your last 2 posts alone, you should post more (even if this might be a new ID).
Will be interesting to see if certain rag can engineer a "story" out of these and put them into print. I'm sure they've frequented here

Did think it was strange that it didn't link straight to the relevant images. Silly thing to have done if you're right.
Gwenie those are very good

Early Banksy Art, by dynamixx on May 29, 2009 19:22:50 GMT 1, First one was CD cover by Monk and Canatella (sp?) too - pretty sure Insect was involved, nice find on the original version. Turf War photo a gem too, even if a little blurry. Still make that as the show that made him - first time he got a tabloid mention and as ever, the rest is history

Early Banksy Art, by dynamixx on May 29, 2009 19:56:39 GMT 1, Very very good pictures, thanks for adding. Top 5 2002 Ghetto? Interesting to note the reappearance of similar/the same wall paper on a certain elephant a few years later.
The other ones below that, have you stayed in the hotel room he painted in the US? Awesome either way.
Nice collection of music stuff too. We Love You vol. 1 on vinyl is like hen's teeth, shame vols 2 and 3 were CD only as those images never appeared anywhere else. Some of those badmeaningoods are impossible to find on vinyl too (couldn't help but notice you're a couple away from the full set - ever tried searching for the Skitz one? Impossible!)

Early Banksy Art, by Prescription Art on May 29, 2009 20:40:49 GMT 1, Was hunting down the other BMG vinyls for a reasonable price last year, but gave up looking. Yeah the skitz & roots manuva are hard to find (I only have the Roots Manuva 12" - an appalling version of Yellow Submarine)
I'm sure they'll turn up for me in Record & Tape Exchange sometime ,-)
And yeah, top photos Santas Ghetto 02 (not taken by me, I didn't go that year - but someone who did go sent me those photos, which are the only ones i've ever seen). Next lot are from the Carlton Arms Hotel in NY (which Damon Ginandes did his new piece on the outside of). I've not stayed there either!

Early Banksy Art, by amsterdam9697 on May 30, 2009 0:00:19 GMT 1, Great thread! The more I am looking at this old stuff again the more I am being reminded why he is the One. I can't wait for the show.
I have to agree wholeheartedly that Banksy takes it to an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT LEVEL!!! My question is how the f**k did I not hear about the guy until a year or so... Better yet, why couldn't have one of my buddies from the UK that I went to grad school told me about THE MAN in the early 00's? Christ, I've been a fan of "radical" art since I started collecting Weatherman Underground and SDS fliers and paste-ups from the 60's and 70's... but never ran across Banksy 'til he was priced out of my market
Can you imagine how cool it would have been to see his studio back in the day? Paint, Stencils, Brushes... and more than a little GENIUS!!! ;D
... and Silky, LOVE the old POW pics... If you look closely, you can see the Soup Can and CND... but look at the BIG stack of Jack & Jill next to the CND... man, talk about take the posters and run ;D ;D

If you like looking at this early Banksy stuff, I have 400 more photos for you on Flickr. I made a permanent place for it called Banksy Back-in-the-Day. Please add whatever Banksys you might have from 2000 and before. It's a phenomenal collection. Cheers.
