Danny O'Connor π¬π§ DOC Street Artist β’ New Print Release, by Danny O'Connor on Jan 22, 2009 17:51:25 GMT 1, Thanks for the comments fellas, this is exactly the type of suggestions I was looking for. I went pretty abstract on this as I've done a few more slightly realistic pieces lately and needed to go a bit nuts on the old stylization.
Anyway keep the comments coming!

Danny O'Connor π¬π§ DOC Street Artist β’ New Print Release, by Dellboyy on Jan 22, 2009 17:53:50 GMT 1, Looking pretty funky! Again, like the abstract look to it! Have to say i didn't notice the squiggle until mentioned. I quite like the gap at the bottom right, but for me there seems to be a little something missing from the right hand side of the face. Couldn't tell you what though! Sorry, I'm drawing people attention away from the beauty of the piece It he missing an eye - I presume it's intentional and adds a bit of mystery. I hadn't noticed until Dellboy mentioned it
As am i by the sounds of it! :-) I don't actually mind the squiggle though!

He did have a second eye when I sketched it on the canvas but I painted over it almost to suggest it was completely shaded out. But I'm thinking maybe of adding something on that side seeing it on screen now.

Danny O'Connor π¬π§ DOC Street Artist β’ New Print Release, by angel41 on Jan 22, 2009 17:58:00 GMT 1, Quality piece D! Really like it.
The only thing I would suggest is maybe a bit of the eye on the right should be showing?
Still love it though. Don't do too much to it. Love the simplicity of this one.

Danny O'Connor π¬π§ DOC Street Artist β’ New Print Release, by Agent Provocateur on Jan 22, 2009 20:42:04 GMT 1, Doc, nice work. Really like the cleaner feel... and just to add my two penneth worth, I quite like the empty bottom right and lack of eye on the right as well. Imo it focuses the attention on the features of the face that are at the front (possibly a bit like the depth of field you get in a photograph). It's also a good balance, allowing the main detailed area to stand out. Hope that makes sense...

Thanx AP! I hear what your saying mate, I think I'm gonna add a little hint of an eye, yet not too much as to deter from the more detailed areas as you say.
Cheers again to all who have passed comment they are much appreciated. Working on my bill means I only have the missus opinion and she doesn't really give a shit! So thank god for the forum

Danny O'Connor π¬π§ DOC Street Artist β’ New Print Release, by hlarmy on Feb 24, 2009 16:09:04 GMT 1, Going from left to right, I think characters 1 and 3 have potential to develop into an interesting painting, especially having seen the latest pics on your flickr site and the strength of your recent abstract portraits. Character 2 doesn't do much for me personally; it reminds me of something out of the Lion King musical . Also, I would like to see 1 & 3 in isolation as I don't think the three characters work together at a painting
Good luck on Thursday Danny, beautiful piece...

Danny O'Connor π¬π§ DOC Street Artist β’ New Print Release, by Dellboyy on Feb 24, 2009 16:12:19 GMT 1, Just goes to show... personally 2 is my favourite, followed by 1 then 3.
I like the dark shadowy look to 2, but 3 maybe a bit too abstract for my taste, something doesn't look quite right!
Be good to see how they develop!

Danny O'Connor π¬π§ DOC Street Artist β’ New Print Release, by Danny O'Connor on Feb 24, 2009 17:49:30 GMT 1, Thanks for the comments guys. I enjoy using varying levels of stylization/abstraction in my work, so some I guess will have more than others. These characters are generally just studies so they aren't intended to be composed this way on a final piece.
Ill Joseph, I'll try and post some more pencil work pieces up shortly on this Thread.
Thanks again for the comments and please keep them coming!!!

Anyway, good luck in the auction Danny. I, like I am sure a number of other forum members, will be routing for you dude.
