In June this year a og 199 cm by 163 cm went for ยฃ77.5k inc BP. In May 2019 an og 200 by 237 cm went for โฌ97500 in BP. In May 2018 an OG 250 cm by 250cm went for ยฃ100,000 in BP.
And on a side note their prints that once spiked to 3x their value on release struggle to move for cost nowadays.
I think they mean that their secondary is cheaper than primary for ogs, not declining. Maybe referring to the prints. They have definitely declined.

If i was investing, I would stay clear even at current pricing levels! I just think they have had long enough now and their market is not strong enough to spend 10's of '000's on. Great at what they do, but it looks like the BIG BIG time is not going to happen for them. IMO.............

OS Gemeos ๐ง๐ท Sรฃo Paulo Graffiti โข Brazil Street Art, by sfnyc on Nov 26, 2019 9:47:43 GMT 1, I got turned off from Os Gemeos after visiting them painting the Chelsea mural over several weeks that was near my office and being blocked by their agent lady from even talking to them or a quick handshake. Like you're so "street" but you don't wanna speak to the community where you're painting... pathetic. Lost interest in them ever since, and looks like I wasn't the only one.

OS Gemeos ๐ง๐ท Sรฃo Paulo Graffiti โข Brazil Street Art, by drip on Nov 26, 2019 11:04:32 GMT 1, I don't know the circumstances regarding sfnyc's (attempted) meeting with Os Gemeos, but it can be really disheartening when you meet (or try to meet) people you admire, and it doesn't go well. I've had a few meetings with "heroes" that haven't gone ok, and it definitely hurts feelings and erodes the love or admiration you previously felt for them. Sometimes it's good to meet your heroes, other times, it's a bit meh.
Having said all that though, if it helps to make it feel less like a personal snub, if Os Gemeos didn't even meet you or talk to you, then they weren't snubbing "you" personally, as they don't even know you. It's impossible for us to know the pressures anyone is under at any given moment or day, and it's possible their handler was just doing their job, trying to enable Os Gemeos to do theirs. It does hurt though and it does feel personal at times. But, unless it's Banksy, I don't think any artist deliberately sets out to give their fans a negative experience on any given day.
But artists take note, when meeting the public, maybe take the time, do what you can (we know you're trying to work), grin and bear it, grease those love wheels a bit, it does help. You don't have to touch us though.
Having said all that, I wouldn't want to meet the public. I hate even going into Tesco.

OS Gemeos ๐ง๐ท Sรฃo Paulo Graffiti โข Brazil Street Art, by therivler1 on Nov 26, 2019 14:02:20 GMT 1, It's incredibly apparent for anyone paying attention, that the value of their works has declined in recent years. If you love their work it shouldn't matter, and provides a great opportunity to buy some amazing work at great prices (ask any fans of Faile about that )
Regarding meeting them, your expectations of them are your own fault. Their job is to paint, not to be your buddy. That shouldn't matter (other then Retna - screw that guy).

They don't have to be all about the meet and greet but it really does endear when artists (or anyone for that matter) are polite and friendly to fans (assuming the fan isn't being annoying or weird). It's nice when the people we admire are nice. It gives you the warm fuzzies and makes you more likely to want to give them cash in the future. Of course, some artists might feel they don't need or want your money, but that's another story. I think the vast majority of artists are super lovely people that are very sociable and are always happy to meet their fans whenever they have the time, opportunity or are relatively sober.

I hope when heโs not busy engraving Phlegm keeps his hands in glass cases like the hand model in zoolander.

As for not meeting with โfansโ, I get that perspective too, especially for a relatively high profile artist. Itโs always nice to have a human connection to the art, but the absence of that does not detract from the art for me.
Also agree with the quality of Os Gemeos works which have been available at auction historically. Canโt just compare raw size.

OS Gemeos ๐ง๐ท Sรฃo Paulo Graffiti โข Brazil Street Art, by osgzero1 on Nov 29, 2019 2:10:37 GMT 1, This hating on Os Gemeos is very strange (although understandable, perhaps, for the personal experience of sfnyc). They're legends on the streets and continue to create incredible murals and other works. Their status in the eyes of bankers is irrelevant, imho
I totally agree. If you love their work then the financial valuation shouldnโt matter one bit.
I think the twins are hugely talented.
The value of art can and does change. The difficulty for most artists striving to be great is sustaining the interest and demand for their works by being resilient.
This is where OG has I think has sputtered a bit.
I really felt that after their collaboration with Banksy they were going to go sky high.
Still waiting.
