OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by hlarmy on May 26, 2011 14:06:12 GMT 1, I would say these are pretty strong results for what, in my opinion, aren't the best Os Gemeos'...
I remember a better one selling at Dreweatts for around the £20k mark a few years ago...

I wonder what the record for an Os Gemeos painting is then? Anyone care to enlighten me

Don't hold me to this...but I think $120k and then $180k was the record breaker...could be wrong though, but think it's around that figure.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by lee3 on May 26, 2011 17:51:35 GMT 1, Conversely, from my vantage point those are spectacular results. I am mystified at the prices many of the associated artists in this genre command with regularity and exhibition CVs that are less than 10 years old in most cases. In that same auction were 4 consecutive blue chip photorealist works from Estes, Goings, Becthle and (either Kacere or Mclean from memory) and none of them (again from memory) brought in $400k despite 4 or 5 decades of exhibition history and significantly more museum placement than this current genre. This is certainly not a knock on the twins as I love and appreciate their work and would adore them in my collection but admittedly I have to pause at current prices.
Most of the artists in this genre are building their careers atypically outside the traditional big name gallery confines and still commanding prices that make most blush not to mention the speed with which their work is sold at primary. With my limited view or historical perspective I'm confounded at how many are seemingly able to succeed in this context and build lasting careers that don't overheat and burnout in a year or three. It's beyond impressive to me and I applaud those making it work. Still, I'm honestly cautious or wonder how many more will try to rush and follow suit in the years to come as that is human nature. More succinctly, at what price level does the collecting herd turn their eye towards a more risk averse older established artist? I suppose that's somewhat hypocritical of me as I've done just the opposite but I do wonder just the same.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by Deleted on May 26, 2011 18:08:48 GMT 1, a few years ago I was in contact directly with Os Gemeos about buying some work. Their English was poor and they weren't keen on sending a huge canvas overseas. So in the end I was unable to buy at a price I could have afforded at the time £2k ish. If I knew the people I know now I'd have a nice big old Os Gemeos canvas at home. Never mind. Got some lovely Jagos, Curiousgeorge's, Adam Smith's and loads of SPQR's. with a few Cheeky others for good measure. Most of which please me more to the eye than The Twins. Their street work is up there with BLU and Banksy as the best there is from this era.

they did a world cup promotion giclee edition of 1000 on canvas, seen a couple on ebay. part of some pack of stuff.
A direct quote from Os Gemeos "no prints, only huge canvas".
guess I am a bit gutted i never gpt myself a canvas, as its nice to spot talent when affordable, also now knowing i'll never be able afford to get them to paint my Castle is a bit gutting . if my mrs lets me move back in ;D.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 23, 2011 13:29:36 GMT 1, Hey guys,
An old (in all ways ;D) friend who is an avid contemporary collector got into street art. And asked me a while ago if I could recommend some street artists he should look into and potentially acquire! I made him an extensive list of interesting artist or historically relevant artist to start a solid street art collection
After few months, he contacted me yesterday and asked me if I could see if I could find interesting OGs from the following artists :
OS Gemeos Barry McGee (drawings, paintings, sculpture/mini installations) Blu (I know it's difficult to find anything by him) Faile Parla
Only insterested in unique works (no prints even if unique at the moment) by those artists. For once, no Banksy lol
Anyway, if you have anything for sale or (if by any chance) you know how to contact those guys directly (except for Faile), hit me up by PM.
PS : Already contacted the members who offered the Parla recently!
Many Thanks by advance for any help.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by jB on Jul 24, 2011 8:51:33 GMT 1, its been awhile since this thread has been bumped, but got some enjoyment from it this evening. I really enjoy seeing some of their earlier works.
You can always follow Os by their blog - they tend to only update it once or twice a month, but it's nice to see what they're up to.
