Make your own Invader!, by Deleted on Apr 27, 2016 17:13:11 GMT 1, Regarding the re selling. There is the copyright and ownership intellectually to consider. The art copied is Invaders creation so re selling it could lead to problems. I understand if a fan wants to make one for themselves to put on thei wall but the artist/s who create the originals should be respected. Even if re sold for the cost of the materials, they could end up on Ebay one day or some other places. Didn't I see a Glitter Gorilla on Ebay for a few hundred bucks not long ago? Perhaps the owners of the original atari game could sue the artist for copyright???. See so many artists using star wars etc...in their pieces?? They don't seem to give a sh+t about copyright in those circumstances!!
It's a different law and legal aspect.

Make your own Invader!, by Jetpac on May 5, 2016 22:58:52 GMT 1, I just picked up a load of tiles because.. why not I love pacman and the ghosts so why not give it a go to stick in a frame.
Now the question.. what is the best medium to stick them to for framing? and what adhesive would be good?
im planning on just doing blinky without any 'fill in' pieces/border on a black background.

Make your own Invader!, by Charlie on Dec 6, 2016 17:58:56 GMT 1, Hoping to own an Invader print one day, but in the meantime I thought I'd try to make my own.....
Chose the Brick Lane 'LDN_24' one as I love it down there and its where I grew up.
Just need to find a spot for it at home!

Make your own Invader!, by Buff Monster Fan on Dec 8, 2016 6:33:24 GMT 1, Hi friends - do you have any advice on how to affix the tiles together? I'd like for the tiles to rest flush against one another, without any grout showing through.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
TIA - BMF

Grout ?
Don't bother with grout, just use no more nails or equivalent have a wet j-cloth or equivalent ready to run over the tiles and hey presto
Celebrate with a cup of tea or equivalent
No worries

Make your own Invader!, by Buff Monster Fan on Dec 11, 2016 20:17:49 GMT 1, Inspired by this thread, and my love of Invader, I'm putting together a few of my own. WIP obviously - need to add white for the eyes (waiting on the white tiles from the store), find something to cement them to (wood, netting), then frame them up. Depending on how they look, I may do a few more in the new year as I have a ton of tiles left over.
For anyone interested, I used 3/4" venetian glass tiles from Delphi glass. They run about $8-10 USD for around 100 tiles and appear to be very high quality.

I'd like for the tiles to rest flush against one another, without any grout showing through. Any advice would be much appreciated. TIA - BMF I used sticky film. Lay the tiles face down on the sticky film, this will hold them altogether. When you're happy with the positioning, spread bathroom silicone all over the back and allow to dry. You can then remove the sticky film

Just use double sided sticky foam. That's what invader uses on his latest invasion kits! Prior to that they were siliconed together

Make your own Invader!, by Buff Monster Fan on Feb 20, 2017 7:23:11 GMT 1, A few updates on some finished mosaics. Working on some basic framing in the next week or two. Especially excited to see the B&W's next to each other. Anyway, at the very least, a bit of fun for me
PM me if you have any questions about composition/creation!

Make your own Invader!, by Aza on Feb 20, 2017 10:09:37 GMT 1, They look great. Was it a conscious decision to use a few non black tiles in the orange one?
Also where did you get those black tiles from? I've always struggled to find ones like that and mainly just find those sketchy looking black ones.

Doesn't the original have some navy tiles in it ? I don't have mine in front of me but I think this might be the case

Make your own Invader!, by Buff Monster Fan on Feb 20, 2017 16:59:12 GMT 1, Yes, Matt is correct. The original has three dark blue tiles in it, which I had actually never noticed as well.
Aza - I purchased all my tiles from Delphi Glass, based here in the US. They actually look quite a bit better in person, and were the best black tiles I could find.
