OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 21, 2014 10:49:52 GMT 1, this whole thing is an embarrassment to the scene and will only have a detrimental effect.
graffiti prints knew exactly what they were doing and their statement of being 99.9% sure its not banksy is an absolute scam especially when its stated on all the outis ebay listing.
GP have always had decent support on here but i for 1 will never buy from them, this has been played out like a school project or just a blatant money grab.
i've kept away from commenting on the thread this week but i'm just shocked nobody is calling out graffiti prints for this.
If it smells like bullshit and it looks like bullshit, it's usually bullshit!!
i won't comment again on the thread i promise..

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 21, 2014 11:00:07 GMT 1, ....and the point was...taking art out of context can effect it's value and recognition
for instance take outis without the implication it's by someone 'famous' what are you left with?
shhhhhh calm yourself
no need to answer we already know
I agree and take away the media hype and publicity and the talking up of a lot of very bad art by the money men and what do you have left?
A gimmicky stencil painting is just that and if people see the next big hype as some sort of financial commodity which they can invest in today and store away for a few years and then re sell at a big profit good luck to them.
One things for certain if this elephant was by Banksy the detractors would be queing up to buy an unsigned print.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by eschiff on Feb 21, 2014 11:07:51 GMT 1, what a boring point. Yes, and if you splashed paint over a canvas it wouldn't sell for as much as a Jackson Pollock either. The beauty of a piece of art is subjective and has to do with aesthetics, the value takes into consideration the artist, where they're coming from (what point they are in their career, what's their back story, etc).
To say people would be lining up to buy this if it were a Banksy shows a ignorance of what makes something valuable.

Difference with Pollock is that he splashed paint or dripped it on a huge canvas at a time when it was new and different and a creative process.
Brainwash rips off images and splashed paint over a Mondrian image and people fall for it.
I understand the Financial aspects of seing some art only as a comoddity and a way of investing and making money but people who do so don't have to justify their greed by saying that what they invest in is great art.
Most of it is nothing special.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by eschiff on Feb 21, 2014 11:19:09 GMT 1, true, but you switched the argument from Banksy to MBW. When banksy started using stencils it WAS new (sure there was a guy in france making rats). That's why we're not talking about him being a basquiat knock off. He added something different to the art scene. Something by him will inherently carry more value regardless of the aesthetic because of this.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by kel on Feb 21, 2014 11:31:54 GMT 1, Had to laugh to myself just noticed that in the bunch of flowers there is a mouse trap. Just shows how much I wasn't interested in the image in the first place. GP seem to be getting a lot of grief over this and I can see both sides of the argument. For me I couldn't give two f*cks if it was/wasn't banksy or another established artist. It wouldn't make the wall and that is all that matters.

I decided to never buy anything from Graffiti Prints already on page one in this thread, when it became evident that this is nothing else than a marketing scam. But perhaps one shouldn't expect more from a print house owner who describes himself as having expertise in "marketing strategy", "social media marketing", and "brand development" (his own words).
Anonymity only makes sense for artists who actually do street pieces that some regard as illegal. Making bad prints is not illegal, unfortunately. But in way it's understandable that no one wants to be connected to this print.

I actually really like the Outis print and wished I had been able to get one.

I'm at the point where I reckon GP has produced this himself and done a genius job at marketing and spin.
