Everyones entitled to their opinion and to think it's some big unwritten rule that an artist can't slag off another artists work is not something I adhere too.
Thara are many artists I like and some I cant stand regarding their work.
There are over promoted artists who are promoted for financial or political reasons.
Artists had arguments and criticisms of other artists going back centuries. Delacroix with Ingres, Dali with the surreallists and Picasso.
I'm amazed how touchy Banksy fans are.
I can only put that down to lack of general art knowledge ignoring the fact that despite what he says he did copy Bleks style and curious about the ongoing rumours that team Hirst was behind Banksy.
Unfortunately todays art collecting is a rich mans game and i'm happy in the knowledge that i'll still be making art when some are selling their prints on car boot sales in the future.

Obviously I'll never be good enough to take lessons at the Royal Academy by their gifted professor of drawing Tracey Emin.

Collecting art isn't a rich man's game at all, there's loads of relatively affordable art out there if you can be bothered to look. 1 x Run is a great launching board for some good pieces and just because it isn't by Banksy, Dolk, Os Gemeos or whoever doesn't make it worth any less. I'd have thought that any artist would get that? |
