OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by bolx on Feb 14, 2014 14:41:32 GMT 1, Brilliant - just brilliant - Not the print but the dialogue - the levels of intellect leave me gobsmacked
I'll be so bold as to stick my neck out and offer an opinion of the print - and not just that it looks like it has been photoshopped by a 5 yr old - Think someone already mentioned the head is off, The trunk looks like a bit of extendable hose that you get with a tumble dryer, the flowers and colours of seem 'gawdy' and not quite right. The mousetrap, hardly subtle and WTF do venus fly traps have to do with it? Well aware of the association between Elephants and Mice but never Rats so whats the point - oh and the rat? its got a friggin mouse's tail
and please stop with all the Gif's

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by badgersurf on Feb 14, 2014 15:22:53 GMT 1, "oh and the rat? its got a friggin mouse's tail"
Generally mice tails are the same length as their bodies where as rats tails are generally shorter than the body length (dependant on species but a good general rule, shame we can not see any nipples as rats have 6 pairs and mice have 5 pairs)
N.B. used to be a biologist
Edit. Actually thinking about this it is either the common brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) so its tail would be the same length as the body or the black rat (Rattus Rattus) which would then have a shorter tail

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by BKBOI on Feb 14, 2014 15:24:24 GMT 1, People who bought to flip should strongly consider moving their prints while demand > supply on the secondary.
The artist is hiding his identity because the print is worth more or worth less than what GP charged for it. With that in mind, GP has risked their reputation to release a print that netted them about 18k gbp. A gallery/printer with a good lineup and good rep really doesn't have to deal with these type of releases unless mr. outis is someone that they can not say no to.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 14, 2014 16:01:51 GMT 1, I can't see any boycotting from purchasers taking place, certainly not enough to do damage to GP. They are merely the middle man not the artists and there's always a queue of unlucky punters at each release.
Now if the artists themselves pushed back then they would have problems.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by BKBOI on Feb 14, 2014 16:03:34 GMT 1, @ alittle: true... but with urban art galleries popping out left and right, you have to play it right if you want to stay in the business. people buying the "hot releases" are really not a good long term strategy plan. You have to build a good customer base that actually buys because of the merit of the work and artist.... not because it will flip welll.
@ ekap: Just because it hasn't been posted publicly doesn't mean it's not happening.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by tommyb on Feb 14, 2014 16:14:48 GMT 1, I don't really think anyone cares too much about this, if GP are selling a print you like then you are going to buy it, they make good qaulity prints and it's not like ordering from laminate or anything, they will get the prints to you. Are any of you honestly going to miss out on a good release because they sold a print from lesser artist? I certainly don't think so.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 14, 2014 16:39:10 GMT 1, I can understand that. Whatever is going on with Outis and whoever he is/isn't blah blah etc it perhaps wasn't fair on PEZ to release on same site at the same time. When they saw the storm brewing perhaps GP should have delayed one.
Did it hinder sales tho? Wonder if anyone ended up looking who wouldn't normally as they were looking at the Outis.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Graffiti Prints on Feb 14, 2014 17:12:38 GMT 1, This thread is crazy
We have always stated from moment 1 that were 99.99% sure it's not banksy how certain do we have to be 100% I can not say that about much bar death!
We have put photos up of the signatures on Facebook to re enforce what we have always said this is a print by OUTIS signed by OUTIS.
The hype, crazy thread, the conspiracy theories, millions of mails etc have been a real eye opener.
I always thought this picture would be a slow burner. people who bought would post pics etc and say nice things and we would slowly sell out as I still think its a great image.
Then the shit hit the fan that we knew nothing about and could not even keep up with the pace of it here, mails and social media.
My phones not stopped and even had the papers on the phone all based on stuff out of our control.
I have stated before we don't treat artists any different I will print a load of colours no matter how big a artist is if I like the image and we would protect them too no matter who they are.
all my artists know I am a very genuine person as they have met me, it's one of the only things I don't like about this business is that you can not easily talk face to face with your customers. If you had met me you would all know were are keeping it real here at GP and that we are 100% genuine and upfront.
This is a family company

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by mandingo on Feb 14, 2014 17:16:13 GMT 1, Are people are really disgusted by gp? I doubt it. There are more things to be disgusted by than a gallery releasing a print. All he said was a mystery artist and all because a thread by another member mentioned banksy and maybe a bit of cute marketing by the artist gp are now duping everyone ! People put your underpants back on and move away from the keyboard... I wonder if people will be disgusted enough not to put their name down on his next print giveaway!

Just say, it is not a Banksy, you are sorry if there are people who bought this thinking it might be Banksy, you dont condone the marketing tactics of this artist and will not be working with them in the future and move on. You knew once the calls started, you could have pulled the release, you chose not too because you wanted the cash or attention. So you are either part of the deception and this is how you do business, or you are not part of the deception and you are sorry people are using the formerly good name of your company to deceive others.
worse than an apology from Paula Deen
