Damon Albarn & Banksy?, by danb on Jan 13, 2007 19:14:23 GMT 1, am I being stupid or has it disappeared....?
It got pull by the moderators soon after the Damon Albarn pic was posted.
I'd like to know who pulled it and exactly why. Are we not permitted to discuss the man himself or is it the photos that provoked exception. The photos could easily be reposted.

And I would like to know EXACTLY why someone who has signed up with a different name gives a toss, there are more sets of pics that are ment to be MrB that there are of Lord bloody Lucan, the Jamaican ones seem to get the best coverage, but all in who really cares. I know I'm not too bothered what he looks like, why are you? You seem to have very strong feelings on the subject for someone who has posted twice on the forum Danb, I assume that you are another user under a less usual name, so please dont be so gutless, let us know who you are and enlighten us as to why it should matter that a couple of month old threads have been deleted.

Hi foundation, Thanks for your reply, Your feelsing seem to be stronger than mine, however it seems we are both of the same opinion. "Who cares" I'm not so fussed about the photos, but i'd like to know that we can still discuss the man, Without the thread being pulled.

Damon Albarn & Banksy?, by foundation on Jan 13, 2007 19:50:30 GMT 1, No real strong opinion on it Danb, the main point of the forum seems to be about the art / other artists, its been made clear with the other threads about him as been complete speculation, we only really get told what Laz / Banksy want us to know, which is fair enough, alot of these threads would be as well asking if Banksy is a space man, unless we know something its just a pain in the arse to wade through, I point out the team refresh thread as a prime example of BS clogging content.

Damon Albarn & Banksy?, by buffruffly on Jan 13, 2007 19:50:47 GMT 1, Foundation, I think with you it's a case of 'the lady doth protest too much'......
I mean, I agree, who cares about what he looks like. What I'm more intrigued about is why the thread was pulled. Especially, as you say, when there are so many purported pictures around anyway.....So what is the reason? anybody?

I pulled the thread coz I was getting a few PM's from people asking for it to be removed. I'm not really of the opinion that it was doing any harm really coz the the number of images seemed to be so large that it was actually making it harder for people to work out who the real one was, if one was even real at all
Plus If Banksy could contact me direct and tell me what ones I should remove and what ones I could leave, I could help keep his identity secret

I guess it was pulled as it was a completely pointless, pathetic thread. lots of fuzzy, crappy photos, of dubious provenance. some taken/posted on the internet through malice.
who cares what he looks like?
do people like him for his art, ideas, messages, and balls?
or do people like him coz he's cool, anonymous etc??

Damon Albarn & Banksy?, by pastiepie on Jan 15, 2007 2:19:40 GMT 1, Is it me, or do people who I suspect know his identity (Martion perhaps, but let me know if I'm wrong) seem to be the ones that are always anti "who is banksy threads"? Curiosity is only human, tell someone they are not allowed something and it makes them want it more.

Damon Albarn & Banksy?, by mido on Jan 15, 2007 3:21:03 GMT 1, nope, I've never met banksy and unlikely to ever meet him I'd say. I have met people who have met him, but it is a bit like when I used to run a music fanzine. Don't really want to get too immersed in all this 'who is banksy' stuff. And I imagine talking about him to someone who does know him would be one of the most condescending chats you could ever have, and a great way to lose a friend (probably through sheer boredom - suddenly reminds me of those T-shirts some women have, that write, at breast level, 'Please talk to my face, not to these')
maybe i'm just a bit old-fashioned in liking proper, researched info (hence the location maps, my tours, book etc), rather than speculation and drivel.
I do genuinely feel that all of us should ask ourselves, 'If banksy was not anonymous, would I still like his work?'.
didn't your Mum tell you that curiousity killed the cat. :-)

hope I’m not continuing to offend anyone.

Damon Albarn & Banksy?, by pastiepie on Jan 16, 2007 2:41:13 GMT 1, I agree you would feel like a right knob talking shop with someone that actually knows the man. Must say I'm surprised since you have been responsible for exposure he would otherwise not get from your tours and book. At risk of losing another of the nine lives, has Banksy even contacted you about your book. I know it is "unauthorized" but his street work is where it all began and I'm sure if he were to read it he would find many pieces even he had forgotten about.

Damon Albarn & Banksy?, by mido on Jan 16, 2007 4:33:04 GMT 1, No.
I don't think banksy needs my publicity. banksy is ENORMOUS.
I hope that, yes, the book is seen of as 'ok' because, 1) I'm using it to do a lot for charity, 2) Banksy says that street work is still his main buzz, and 3) It's not, as far as I can see, in any sort of competiton with the stuff POW / Laz do. In fact it might even dampen down the demand for photos from sellers who do colour photos of his work, and even canvases. And the location map is actually mentioned on laz's site as a place to go rather than expect laz to tell enquiriers all about where his street work can be found.
