I also told them in the feedback that these emails with no information is tantamount to spam. I agree this is not a good look for the artists, hopefully they will see this and they can stop standing in front of the prints as if hiding a top government secret.

Isn't there an argument that as opposed to recent releases like O*tis and BNE that at least we know who the artist is here? I hope you all are boycotting GP as well as BNE as those releases were fraudulent, this one is just annoying.
Pretty soon, I imagine we're going to be offered a piece of art from an artist we're 99.9% sure isn't banksy without an image or price. In fact, maybe we won't even know when it will be delivered. That'd be worth at least 5k.

But JR is not alone in doing this as the last few Stolenspace D*Face prints have been like this. There are many other examples of artists using this type of practice. For me it suggests a lack of confidence in the work, as I can only think that they're not keen on any possible pre-release critique and want the buyer to make an instant decision.

I agree...whatever happened to the classic "unveilling" of artworks? An artist should be proud to present their art BEFORE it is to be made available for sale. |
