I don't have a printer and to be honest I'm totally useless with anything computer related - if I get the file saved how can I get this printed off at a decent size? Are there places I can go to get them to do it?

If it was a "thank you" to somebody, like the low edition Love Hurts-print, I do not think it would be posted on his webpage like this?

Banksy.co.uk • Official Banksy Website , by randomname on Apr 28, 2014 17:09:26 GMT 1, That image is 72DPI, not print ready. Man, I was sort of excited. It doesn't really matter what dpi it is - it's the file size that's crucial. The print I did was at 62% of the actual file size and there's no pixelation at all. However if you wanted to print this commercially on an off-set litho etc it would of course be better to have more dpi, but for the purposes of printing this out at home on some decent paper you can't go wrong. You're partly right. But for a high-quality print, you need a 300 dpi file. At 300 dpi, this image is only about 3"x4". You can print it larger, but the image will be a lot softer than the original.

Unless you live in the world of CSI where they can shit miracles from grainy footage and images.

If you're really committed, you can print it at that size on a nice piece of paper and then have that drum scanned. Printing it and scanning it won't give you any better resolution. It'll just add the paper texture to your file. You'll actually lose a little image data in the process.
For this, it probably helps that it's an illustration, rather than a photograph. You might not notice the softness as much. It also helps if you're looking at it from a bit of a distance.
But anyway, 300 dpi is the standard for professional printing. If you print an image at 300 dpi, then 150 dpi, then 72 dpi, you'll see a very noticeable difference when you put them side by side.

"While we're unsure what Banksy's plans are for the illustration, the artist's publicist Jo Brooks told us that it was not a print for sale, just a website update."
