Banksy.co.uk • Official Banksy Website , by Coach on Apr 29, 2014 11:28:17 GMT 1, Would jo brooks really announce it through complex though? I doubt it. Not that I think its a print, just sayin... You guys with your conspiracy theories, always muddying up the waters. She didn't "announce" it through Complex. An editor there emailed her and got a response. It's journalism 101. This forum can't be excruciating at times. Remember when you geniuses, including you specifically 420, speculated that the Banksy statement about not making any t-shirts for a water charity was actually him admitting that he might do them in the future. This is along that same line of thinking.

It boggles the mind. I'm not looking to win a popularity contest. I speak my mind. If you actually read the things 420 posts, it should make you cringe too. And this forum is far from friendly. That's a joke right? It's a street art toxic waste dump. That's why it's so entertaining. The medium is the massage
Also in regard to your other posts:
Bucky, I feel you are confusing the fact that YOU are a journalist, while the members of this forum are mostly Banksy fans (or at least street art fans). Of course there is speculation. In fact, of course there is a lot of speculation - probably more than actual fact-stating. That's what "we" do. If we have to sit around waiting for Banksy to actually do something, there would be one post every few months (on average).
"And this forum is far from friendly. That's a joke right? It's a street art toxic waste dump." A forum cannot enter into a state of being friendly or unfriendly. "A forum" is a bunch of code that allows people to write messages to each other. It's not friendly nor unfriendly. You are of course referring to the people writing those messages, in which case I find your comment extremely generalizing. Thank you for judging me based on other people's actions. That said, I have found the people ON this forum to be extremely friendly. People have been writing me kind messages, helping me, doing business with me, informing me. And I've only experienced a tiny bit of unfriendliness.

That said, let's not derail this thread. Nicely put. For this thread all I did was relay the ONLY confirmable information about this image via Complex: Banksy's publicist said it's not a print, just a website update. What a lot of people don't understand is that Banksy doesn't need a publicist to get him press. Obviously he can do that on his own. In my experience, Jo Brooks acts as a de facto Pest Control to squash rumors, many of which are started and propagated on this very forum. In fact, I see more speculation on these threads sometimes than in mainstream media. I always found that kinda ironic. Anyway, that's why when Jo Brooks tells a media outlet -- even Complex -- that it's not a print, I'm more apt to believe her then some nitwit with a leafy handle. Sure she's his publicist, but I think he purposely keeps her out of the pranky stuff so that she can remain a trusted source for fact checking. Now back to that meat-truck.jpg filename. There's huge significance there. I like Animal it's always an interesting read.
Jo Brooks, is that Banksy's missus?
I can see why some on this forum get angry if Banksy is dissed in any way shape or form or even considered a mediocre ordinary artist with a few nice gimmicks. Or even considered a good artist but not a god although maybe a cult leader to some who believe that by following every word of the profit Banksy that buying and re selling magic prints will lead them into financial heaven.

My guess most on this thread aren't looking for a magic payday but are fans. One print or t shirt won't lead anyone into financial heaven.
The way I see it is there are many longing for a print since they are so hard to come by...I asked someone who knows someone who knows someone to see if this was a print and if so I would like one. I like this image, I think the vast majority of Banksy's work is spot on witty social commentary with an ear and eye towards poking the high and mighty. I like the truck because it seems well done and I had my photo taken in Brooklyn in front of the real one - I thought the gorilla print that never came out lame and wasn't all that hot on the Haring dog tribute. Those longing for a print - affordable art - would wonder if Banksy had a spell of overextended flatulence after some dodgy Indian food would he incorporate it into a print. And rue their chances in a lottery.
It seems Bucky had some venting stored up because of the whining and wasting of his time on the BNE thread (which still has knuckleheads wanting to shame BNE...move on) and after he shared legitimate information here seemed to hear some of the same inane comments.
Overreaction? Most likely, although the poking of him with a stick while misspelling his name repeatedly would seem to be akin to taunting. Animal is an edgy NYC kinda of thing - it's not really about carefully putting one's prints in protective sleeves under one's bed.
They called out BNE, others said they had an agenda and have very slowly learned it was not them who had the agenda. Yet there was much monkey poo flung in their direction initially, which seemed to change then to why didn't you tell us sooner and protect us from ourselves.
All quite absurd...really. Maybe this thread can get back to Banksy and not the squabbling, although based on the page counts of Outis and BNE I highly doubt it.
I do think using the image, which my artist/printer friend says really only best as 4x3, would make a lovely tray for a dresser top or a few buds.

I think you overestimate the value of your own opinion. Honestly, I doubt anyone cares one way or the other what you think of Banksy's artistic merits.

Banksy.co.uk • Official Banksy Website , by gatecrasher on Apr 29, 2014 17:21:16 GMT 1, Does banksy always have to have a plan when he puts an image up on his site? Sure it's fun to speculate and share our own thoughts on what could come of it. Must take the piss though that everytime banksy so much as farts he's got journalist emailing his people askin of its gonna be an editioned fart or whatever. Just enjoy what he's sharing. If he wants us to know something he usually shares... You mean like these forums do??? Jesus Christ, it's amazing how much hypocrisy and abject stupidity one person can espouse. I know I may come off sounding brash, but one thing I detest is stupidity, and you sir are the embodiment of the worst parts of this street art scene. You sound like what in America we call... Republicans. Either you're 12-years-old or your parents were missing genes when you were conceived. Bucky I'd never heard of you or your website before you joined this forum to tell us all how stupid we were with the BNE "scam"
And now you're back calling people names because they pass a little time in their day speculating about a single image on a website.
You appear to consider yourself a journalist but I can't remember the last time I read a column in a newspaper where the writer abuses his so-called audience because they have an opinion that's different to his.
Feel free to post on these forums but you need to decide if you're posting as "Bucky the journalist with a professional and interesting opinion on the art scene" or "Bucky aka Jeff Albertson aka the urban art fan boy who thinks he's just that little bit cleverer than everyone else but that's just his borderline ADHD creeping out"
We're all done with the BNE thing now mate, we appreciate you told us after the event, cos that's what "journalists" do right ? But let's move on together, you and us happy forum members, without the keyboard warrior attacks on people and their parents.
Have a nice day now

I agree that Banksy is good at social commentary like the Jesus crucified with shopping bags and other stuff he made.
The same can be said of lots of political and cartoons in newspapers and journals.
Its the same thing and the difference is Banksy paints it on walls Blek le Rat style.
The truck reminds me of the Chicken Run movie and the muppet show.
It's clever and original and the impact is obvious.
The mobile lovers seems lazy to me and bland and not original and considering that he does this type of stuff full time makes one wonder if he is bored with it or running out of ideas?
I know Banksy wrote copyright is for losers it could explain some similarities between isi praying boy and another street artist Rene Gagnon, although I like the version with the graffiti stained glass window.
Of course to some, one cannot criticise because it burts their bubble, one can only praise and even the ones who refuse to see art for what it is but only see how much art sells for gives that art credibility must understand that what anything sells for at auction or anywhere else makes no difference to the art itself.
Banksy is a bloke and there are no hidden meanings or messages in his meat truck painting.
It's amazing the number of people who analyse every puppet in that painting and the truck and detail and conclude that Banksy has given them a secret message because one puppets eyes face east etc.
It's like the people who go to a gallery view at tate modern or other place and stare at a brick and conclude that the artist was feeling angst and pain due to the favourite falling in the Grand National which meant that we are responsible for global warming blah blah blah.
A brick is a fucking brick.

A brick is a f**king brick.

Banksy.co.uk • Official Banksy Website , by Hairbland on Apr 29, 2014 19:06:27 GMT 1, I agree that Banksy is good at social commentary like the Jesus crucified with shopping bags and other stuff he made.
Of course to some, one cannot criticise because it burts their bubble, one can only praise and even the ones who refuse to see art for what it is but only see how much art sells for gives that art credibility must understand that what anything sells for at auction or anywhere else makes no difference to the art itself.
Banksy is a bloke and there are no hidden meanings or messages in his meat truck painting.
While you possibly make a few good points your overall argument is fraught with a biased tension and lacks any critical thinking.
1 - He did not do a "meat truck painting". It's a photo image of the meat truck or slaughterhouse truck, filled with scared-looking animals that were making crying sounds and it was driven around NYC, parked in front of farmers' markets, fancy restaurants and the like. I see a meaning in that. Comparing it to Chicken Run or The Muppet Show distracts from any point you might be trying to make and dismisses your argument as juvenile.
2 - I would argue that his Flower-throwing protester, Morons art auction, Napalm, No Ball Playing, Child Labour, the car/horse installation L.E.S., and some of the well-placed rats to name a few do have a message or a meaning. I also think he has his misses amongst his hits.
He is successful, and success causes those that might be less successful to attack. I think any artist that inspires dialogue that is constructive (rather than just MBW sucks) is a good thing, but of course those who are judged talented and are successful are often attacked by hacks.
xo

Fire away.
