Still don't get the vandal image; a lot like the dot dot dot stuff. When you see it, it looks very cool. It looks badass, or like something you'd see in a Vegas penthouse. Aside from that, however, the actual message of the image isn't very deep.

I personally think something like Prison Painter is 1000x better than Vandal, and that Idea Painter is a deal better as well since it at least has something to say (although you can easily say the image of kid drawing ironic object on wall has been overly done in the street art world).

I'm saying there isn't much of a message. Maybe the nonexistence of innocence, inherent radicalism and culture-invoked nationalism clashing, subversion vs. allegiance.

Even saying that's the message is a stretch; the whole bandana/balaclava concept doesn't ring as original enough to fascinate me in the way some of his other pieces do (i know, everything is derivative, but still).

The kid has the stare down, I will give you that. And I'm not trying to crap on this print really - I still think that was a fair price (original price) for the print; I'm a bit surprised people are paying loads for this particular print, though. Especially given the other works by Dolk, which I view as comparatively better (minus Evolution).

Perhaps. I heard he said in an interwiev it's a self portrait.
He, as others, used to hide from authorities doing their thing in the streets. Now the city of Bergen pay to protect the murals and he is a respected Norwegian artist.

I also think there could be an economical motivation. We all know popularity of Teddy and Kitty.
