After much discussion we feel releasing Hypostasis as a print would be a betrayal to those who have the original Red Cosmonaut print. Hypostasis was a commissioned piece intended as a reimagining of the themes of Red Cosmonaut. As such it has a very similar feel and quality to the Red Cosmonaut. Our prints provide an archive of the progression of my painting, cataloguing where I've been and where I am going. Hypostasis was an enjoyable painting to create, and a fun place to revisit, but its release as a print doesnβt fall within our mantra for what should be released. We're sorry to be changing our minds, and I apologise to those who were looking forward to this release. At the end of the day we are driven by what feels ethical, and this is a decision we feel we needed to make. thanks, Jem"

The 2 of the 3 that didn't sell were the 2 pigeon pieces that were made to bookend either side of the Ascent image and form a sort of triptych. They were not really necessary to the central image and do not stand well on their own in my opinion. Personally, I didn't care for them at all and I am a big Geddes fan. Obviously other big Geddes fans felt the same way. I am not at all surprised that they didn't sell.

And? I was simply adding some transparency to the other murky worlds of assumption. I too am a fan, but do find the fervour some fans have to protect the 'brand' rather than being honest (re: recent price falls) amusing to say the least.

the prints were being shipped on malaysia airline flight 370
a little disappointed on the change of decision as hypostasis was probably my favorite image of the cosmonauts ... and on the fact that a timed release would have been a no-brainer pickup of. i just really hope he made the decision w/out the outside influence of the art forum pansies (myself included  ). do we have any evidence or knowledge that is what happened (ie red cosmo owners contacting them or something)? or is this all just speculative?
who knows ... the next release may be even better. time will tell.

"Good news on the print front, the paper issues that have been holding up the Ascent print run seem to have finally been resolved, so we can push ahead. Due to the prints fragile nature (the blacks are extremely delicate) it has to be a limited edition, but our plans for the timed edition are firming up (with a painting I am finally getting around to finishing). Big thankyou to @juxtapozmag for the shoutout. It's an honour to be in their 20 year anniversary show at @jonathanlevinegallery"
