Hideous thread, I hope Geddes doesn't read it he'd probably give up art. This forum is becoming like expressobeans.

The long ball on Geddes in suspect in my opinion. As I said previously. He's proven that he's a bit afraid to explore, prior to the space man stuff people weren't clammering and he can't seem to move on from it.

Even if the work holds value, this print will be the one that you see on antiques roadshow in 50 years where the appraiser goes, if this was one of the smaller editions, it would be worth some money but this edition of 1000 is worth just a bit over what it sold for when it was new.

If you love the image and love Geddes then it's a great buy. One of the few chances (other than the portfolios) to guarantee ownership of a multiple. If flippers think this is a sure win short term or long term I think the jokes on them.

Wrong.  Your ignorance continues to be full-bloom, apparently.

I provide a much needed service for my customer-base which I receive thanks for, literally, on a daily basis.  I provide a service to people who are unable to be as fast with their fingers or bots.  People who are busy with real life issues, work and such.

I am glad you see this profession that way.  With that said, you are in the vast minority who do.

This is some of the most adversarial customer views I have heard someone say out loud.  This is the type of shit I'm talking about.  A man who sees his customers as a sucker will never achieve real success, he may buy a nice home, a nice car, and nice clothes, but at the end of the day he will still have to put a piece of shit in them.

If you provided your acquisitions services, as you outline them, for a reasonably markup, maybe there is value here.  For certain I presume non of us change our own oil, or do our own taxes.  However, my oil change doesnt cost $200 is cost $20.  My taxes have a cost structure driven around hourly time investment and expertise.  You jumping into a timed edition, driving up the edition count and then charging your client (that you later called suckers) 5x cost on an item you drove the edition size up on actually makes your Enron. 

Next time you need something at the grocery store or drug store, or walmart or target, go ahead and think about how valueless moving materials across continents is.  Next time you meet someone whose been able to get the medicine they need when there is a massive shortage, think about how valueless those logistics are.  I think you are thinking of drug manufactures, not people who handle international sourcing and logistics.  I don't know, maybe that's more important than pressing F5 from your moms basement to try and make $8000 off a bunch of suckers, meanwhile diluting the value of the product you are selling them by driving up the edition size.  

There is a category "artist", a "moderator", etc... maybe it is time to indicate "flippers" on some. It would help "noobs" like me to understand whom we are addressing to, and maybe understand the philosophy behind a lot of posts/threads created by non delicate users.

If anyone has the skinny on who this waste of an orgasm is, please let me know, want to keep him from acquiring work through us, the herakut solo or the TLC show during Basel if we can help it. Last thing I want to do is allow this opportunist to feed himself off of good peoples hard work, when there are real collectors out there who want to grow their collections without paying for the "privilege" of working with this carpet bagger.

thanks.  the inner matte is a dark green.  the framer did a great job.  they actually put a matte underneath so that the 2 mattes float over the black ink and won't rub / ruin the print.
