Confronting racism, by Deleted on May 13, 2014 13:27:47 GMT 1, Probably should get out more. But the EDL or KKK aren't coming to a town near me soon, as far as I can tell. You'll not get me to bite. I'll continue to do as I please. I suggest you do the same. Look forward to seeing you on another non art related thread soon :-).

Just glad I have other interests in life. This is as good a place as any to discuss the rest of all the good and bad stuff about life.

Confronting racism, by Coach on May 13, 2014 15:03:13 GMT 1, With respect to Johnny, I do think that issues such as racism (and in another thread, activism) do have a place on an urban art forum. I think they go hand on hand.
On this note, I went to the Fulham palace game in Sunday, and was saddened to hear a racist chant for the first time in ages. I was pleased, however, to hear quite a few fans not appreciating it.

Confronting racism, by johnnyh on May 13, 2014 15:25:13 GMT 1, Very true Coach as like the UKIP thread this thread in a sense asks for racist comments. Eg this is an open forum for art. People have many different views on subjects. It is not the place to read the crap on the thick as fuck thread
Which went from racism, to sectarianism, to sexism and fuck knows what else.pretty sure everyone can start political threads regardless of what their into but as mentioned it is an art forum and there is plenty of art and artists around the world that confront and look at these issues. Slammer on the other hand has not really bothered to look for some art with a point to make he has just run a link to the first thing he saw on the BBC.
The piece in question is neither particularly well edited, put together or translated that well. Neither does it appear that Slammer has any great point to make about the piece etc just appears that he has nothing better to do

It's interesting..
I can see from your past threads you've made one on England qualifying for the World Cup and Morgan Freeman not being dead... so, you know... relax!

Confronting racism, by johnnyh on May 13, 2014 15:59:51 GMT 1, Two racism threads in two days is a bit much. Likewise as pointed out if you read and I did ask him what's his point? Likewise as mentioned it only attracts the type of comments on the UKIP thread just pointless really. Not sure we need race debates everyday
Your second relax post for me so maybe you should too!!!! You might also want to read the points I made then you may get the point

There will always be debates on the forum that's the points. Unlike slammers commented I fully understood Coaches point and post and agreed with it
However I do want to read the diatribe in the thick as fuck thread everyday. So if everyone wants let's do a Muslim thread , whether Northern Ireland should be part of ZgB or Eire, Immigration is always a winner etc etc my point was Slammer seemed to have no point with this thread and zi was right as it has started this I suppose so he was successful.

Confronting racism, by Deleted on May 13, 2014 17:25:05 GMT 1, My old mam married a Jamaican guy when I was 7, I had my first proper fist fight at 10 when someone called my kid brother a ni**er, by the age of 13 I had 2 more mixed race brothers and sometimes carried a knife, I had more than a few scars and bruises, the NF on council estates in the 70's were unforgiving, but we learned to fight back. My dad (RIP) then married a Pakistani woman and we welcomed a mixed race sister into the family. Ten years too late, Benetton brought out the "United colours of Benetton" campaign and things became more accepted. Since then I've had a Norwegian son, Nick the oldest mixed race brother married a Lithuanian and has a mix race daughter who's English/Lithuanian/Jamaican and my kid brother is married to a Japanese gal.
My interest in art came indirectly through activism via racism, from fighting the NF, as mods and anti racist skins to being a casual, service crew, violence, and finally later in life, college, where art mixed with politics and turned into activism, then settled into more art..and then..well, here we are. Listening to the same old s**t.
Cheers for the post Slammer, we need reminding.

Confronting racism, by Deleted on May 13, 2014 17:26:18 GMT 1, Ok so my reason for posting is that my family has been directly affected by Racism. We have had to move home as a certain member was targeted by people from a different country, simply for that reason. We had a bottle thrown at that person, which went threw a window just missing the persons head. The same person was attacked by 3 people and had a dog unleashed on them, just for being from a different country. I've witnessed a race riot, which the police did nothing about outside our front door. A visitor to our house was battered and ended up in hospital. Leaving blood all over the front door. I have been a member of the ANL for 24 years. Never did I think that Racism would effect my family. I can write about the way in which members of my family have been and continue to be discriminated against. Why should i have to tell you this to post about a film that's been made about this very issue ?.

Confronting racism, by johnnyh on May 13, 2014 17:40:58 GMT 1, Because Slammer if you had put a bit more effort in you could have posted something different.
Most people on here understand racism but now Andy is here we know not everyone does.
He gives his views you give yours etc it's already been done just a couple of days ago.
I don't want your life story mate just as I am sure you do not want mine. But also put something better on if your gonna do it. Likewise you do not need a life story to make a point.
Anyway enough will leave it for you to discuss with Andy

Confronting racism, by Deleted on May 13, 2014 18:21:57 GMT 1, Actually I didn't give any opinions on the "Andy' thread. Apart from I didn't understand how you could sing racist songs about Islam.
The only point your making on here is to say, I am not making a point or rather that I could have made the point I am 'not making' in a different way ;-).
I wanted simply to post a link to what I consider an interesting bit of film. I particularly like that kind of 'in your face' kind of stuff.
