Froch vs Groves Links , by .dappy on Jun 1, 2014 21:42:27 GMT 1, Froch took the centre of the ring and commanded it like the champion he is. That was his game plan and he stuck to it.
That is not to say that Groves did not put up a good fight and did hit Froch with some good punches.
Groves is the 'younger' next generation coming through and will prob be champion one day, although I think Froch will give up the IBF title and let Groves and DeGale battle it out.
Froch did not have a lucky one punch, he fought and won like a champion. It is not all about going toe to toe slugging it out aka the first fight. (ps: Calzaghe is king compared to the two above. Benn and Eubank were very very special)

Froch vs Groves Links , by iamzero on Jun 1, 2014 22:17:54 GMT 1, Spot on Dappy. I always look back and think each weight division has its time to shine. I remember as a young kid starting boxing unused to get up in the middle of the night to listen to Sugar Ray Leonard and Duran fights etc and the middleweights reigned supreme until Tyson burst through and made the heavyweights exciting again. And then the British middleweights of Benn, Eubank and Watson were the top thing. They wouldn't be afraid to fight each other week in week out but the Naseem era seemed to bring with it more hand picked fights and the dodging of real contenders in favour of big pay days and more belts so you had 40 different champions in the same weight division.
HBO and Sky pay per per view ruined it for me.

Froch vs Groves Links , by curiousgeorge on Jun 1, 2014 23:49:44 GMT 1, George Not sure why your so anti Groves. Thought he put on two cracking fights. First one he almost took Froch out and at one point yesterday on the clip I saw he quite seriously stunned Froch. Fair play to Froch and all that but fair play to Groves as well. If he had not complained last time this fight would not have happened. Which would have been a shame. Mouth writing cheques that's just promotion and they don't love each other and to be fair never heard a boxer yet no matter if it's a mis match say " think I'm gonna get knocked out in the 5th after getting a bit of a pasting!!" Not really anti Groves as such JohnnyโฆMaybe a tad bias towards what I see in Froch as one of the few old school fighters.Plus he grew up with a good pal so my view is clouded by the tales of his good deeds.
Promotion? Selling 80k tickets in under an hour no promotion needed
Of course fair play to both and indeed to Groves. True warrior, I will watch with interest and see how he bounces back from this.
