What art would you buy for around the £300 mark?, by wally1993 on Jun 2, 2014 12:31:57 GMT 1, As a young man I'm not able to afford the expensive stuff but would love to know what you people would spend your money on in my position!
going to hopefully be getting two or three street improvements soon but not sure what else to keep an eye out for! Obviously it's down to personal taste but would still like to know how you'd all do it?

Agreed - and if you can't afford what you like then save up until you can afford it.

What art would you buy for around the £300 mark?, by Deleted on Jun 2, 2014 14:16:09 GMT 1, l wouldn't rush into buying anything. Most of the art I have was either less or not much more than £300. If you are patient you'll be able to buy a nice original for that. I wouldn't buy a print that needs framing. For instance check out the SPQR- May Day on ebay for £400 or best offer. I reckon if you offered £300 you would stand a chance of getting that.

Just want them to feature throughout the house instead of having one expensive one in the middle. Really like some of lora zombies prints but they all seem to be open editions!? Would you stay clear? New to the purchasing of art myself but been on here a few weeks now and have really enjoyed researching the different artists as people mention names that are new to me and although I have been on a bit of a spending spree since joining I probably currently look at £300 as a maximum for myself on any one print so I know where you are coming from. My humble advice is firstly bide your time, do your research on prints that you see that you like as sometimes the releasing galleries still have them although on places like ebay they are being offered at a premium. I also check regularly the new releases where at least if you like the print under release it is at source price. I've also had the pleasure of buying off members on here and found that the art for sale thread is a mine of information on prints that I would never have discovered otherwise. Members have been really helpful and it seems to be a great place to pick up a few prints that are maybe well known from a few years back but have served their time on a wall or in a portfolio and haven't necessarily escalated in value since release and they then get moved on as members seek to buy newer pieces. I've brought prints that I like and it probably is quite an eclectic mix but I'm really enjoying it and hope you get the same buzz when you spend your hard earned! Good luck!

What art would you buy for around the £300 mark?, by Deleted on Jun 2, 2014 17:06:26 GMT 1, You can pick up ltd editions for low prices from quite a few rural auction houses and often editions that were sold for high retail prices through galleries get sold in auctions and sometimes you can pick up a good one.
Same goes for some contemporary art but you need to enjoy looking up the names and artists.
It doesn't hurt to read up the biographies and histories of art dealers who became rich and who started off buying art from unknowns and built up a good colelction over the years.
They say places like St Martins and art coleges are good to make contact with artists and buy art for low prices which could be a good investment.
Or just hover around very very old artists as prices go up usually when they die.

What art would you buy for around the £300 mark?, by Manty on Jun 2, 2014 17:19:02 GMT 1, I got into Banksy because I started seeing his work on the street
( noticed last week his 'the lifestyle you ordered has been cancelled" near the blackball tunnel has been graffitied on. How vulgar darling, jail the swine who did it)
Discovered too late to do well like Biggie, but wanted something when i kinda 'discovered him' and what he was into.
So I would say support your local vandal, It can't be easy climbing roof tops with a large bag of spray paints at 3AM

What art would you buy for around the £300 mark?, by dotdot on Jun 2, 2014 17:26:11 GMT 1, 300quid will buy a lot of art.. or it will buy something else.
got into this a while back... turned into a junkie.. then came back again.
It's a rollercoaster if you can handle it... the comedown from a mad chase is quite bizarre to coin a phrase.
don't get into the F5 game.. it's a fools game..
I do still say to folks who ask ... take your time - there's no rush... 300quid will take you a long way..it'd have bought some stik ogs only a couple of years ago... who ?
Oh and btw .. a gsoh is required throughout
I even remember the bandwagon thread from 2006...

There are a load of other good artists who are members just check their threads
One great thing about buying originals is you do not have to bother with all the framing bollox and costs. So spend your budget whatever that is on art rather than frames.
