If you seriously want to sell it as a Banksy and not one of the thousands of knock off Banksy that appear on Fleabay all the time, then it's up to you to prove it's the real deal.

A little bit of background, even if it's "I got it off my mate in a swap for a carton of cigarettes and he got it from a bloke who was delivering a sofa in Bristol back in 2001 and saw some kid in a hoodie tagging stuff" helps.

That's what we did (see above ... we even did some changes to the original to avoid any confusion though). It's really easy, and at the same time stencils are meant to enable you to create multiple pieces that look like the original. There's no need to buy stencils on eBay, webstores or to take them out of magazines.

yes but yours looks nothing like the real one Are you talking to me? If so, read my post again: we did the changes with full intention. I took a good pic from the internet and turned it into a b/w stencil. We then added a lot of changes (ears, fur, camera etc.) to make sure no one could complain that we are faking the original. And that's the difference to your piece. And to sum it up again: if you got some basic stencelling/spraying skills it doesn't take much to create a spray painted original that looks exactly like the Banksy rat. |
