Maybe, but for a quid who gives a fuck?, it was always destined to be a hunk of paintless rust at some point in time, but, thanks to a bit of foresight, instead of rotting away in a field somewhere, it is serving a purpose by raising cash for a worthy cause, at the end of the day, by entering this raffle, you may or may not get your hands on a bit of Banksy memorabilia, but who gives a shit, it's not what this is all about, it's about putting your hands in your pocket and helping others.

this is total wank, I do not agree with this auction or with someone, who in essense is stealing, what is not theres, irrespective to the cause or intention. What this person is doing is profiteering and using charity as a front for it. Also realart, has no right to take away any part of this work, it doesnt belong to him. While I appreciate it beats it turning into some rusty pile of crap, so what, that was what Banksy intended and for sometime has provided the landscape and others with a great source of enjoyment. By doing this, it will encourage others to go around London/Bristol, tear pieces of art off walls and try and sell them on ebay.

If Banksy wanted his works to raise money for good causes, then he would do it himself, case in example Santas Ghetto Bethlehem

Would it be correct to assume from your response that you are asking forum members to just accept your word at face value?

If so, you may wish to reconsider since you are likely to generate greater interest and raise more money for your charity if you deal with this in a different manner. Independent verification and/or the direct participation of your charity with a contact telephone number, etc. would be preferable.

Anyone who reads the papers, listens to the news on the radio or watches it on television will be able to tell you that fraud under the guise of charity takes place on a daily basis.

Have you not heard the stories of con artists claiming to raise money for Aids or cancer charities? They too have the same shocked and indignant reaction as you when they are questioned. "What? Don't you trust me? I'm raising money for cancer!! How can you be so cold? How can you be so uncaring and cynical?!"

Do you not remember all of the bogus internet charity messages claiming to be collecting donations for the Asian tsunami disaster in 2004-2005? There are also hundreds (if not, thousands) of examples of fraudsters and fake charity websites collecting money on the premise that it is going to orphanages, relief efforts, etc. in war-torn countries.

Such scams really are commonplace. I am actually very surprised that either you are not aware of this (in which case, try Googling "charity" + "fraud") or you have consciously chosen to not take it into consideration. A cautious and wary reaction to your eBay listing from people like myself who don't know you is normal. Any other reaction is naive and foolhardy.

In the higher interest of your charity, my suggestion to you would be that you calm down, take a step back and re-think your approach. In your position, I would make damn sure that I could prove to anyone who asked that the money they were contributing would be going to charity.
