First street piece = disaster, by Sohoria on Sept 1, 2014 3:52:34 GMT 1, So I attempted my first street piece and as comedies go I think if anyone could see me do it, you would find the funny side of it
Everyone has to start from somewhere though and big....BIG difference from cutting stencils and doing on a flat surface to up against a wall.
i know some not to impressed suddenly doing artwork and I guess value of the work might think for first time expensive but believe have something to say and honestly like doing it.
rule number 1 - if you're going to do a street piece make sure no pot holes or ditches around! Won't upload photo of my foot but let's just say it's doubled it's normal size :/
rule number 2 - need better lighting than a mobile phone! Seriously I did think before heading out would be fine but in the darkness minds play tricks and what you think is level is not!
rule number 3 - expect the odd few drunk people (on a Sunday!) to come over and ask are you Banksy and then look at the work and say guess not lol. It was all in good fun and the guy as much as he was stumbling tried to help with the masking tape!
next one is not really a rule but if you're going to choose colour tones from black to grey it really does make sense to have that worked out before getting to the wall lol.
stencils held out but made the mistake of not having borders and when windy nightmare!
rule number 4 - don't use disposable gloves as they stick like flies to a light!
As you can tell not the greatest of experiences and to top it off mcdonalds 24 hour was shut on hagley road!
It was exciting to do it for the first time but paranoia set in when helicopter flying over above but thought at the time not really going to send someone out just for me!
It is a start and really do have now a lot of respect for anyone that puts work out on the street as it's completely different ball game compared to doing in a tent in the back garden!
tongue in cheek....I know disaster but be interesting to hear for my own ego how other peoples first experience in spraying went.
On a good note met someone else spraying and we went to the local shop and he showed me a way of creating own caps which was pretty amazing! I'm going back to obviously try recovering it but thought would share.
i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg104/bbbbbbb12345/IMG20140901024218.jpg
worst thing is, I know in daylight it is going to look so bad but everyone has to start from somewhere. Advice had from new found friend was, at least you are coming out and trying

Best choose a nice still night, and have it well sussed out first, but as the other guy says, you're out there and thats more than most, when are you going again?

First street piece = disaster, by Sohoria on Sept 1, 2014 4:40:04 GMT 1, You know when you had that first car and the girl first took out on a date? Then the next day not to sure about meeting again....way feel about this lol. It can be recovered but doing in the night is not good.
Should be annoyed about the stencil but I enjoyed it.

At least you are out there, and what thomasmer mentioned ; Perhaps start off with a smaller and simpler stencil? But for a first street-piece this intricate not half bad mate!

First street piece = disaster, by Sohoria on Sept 1, 2014 6:02:48 GMT 1, Will post a pic in the daylight and then will know from original to street piece I have heck of a lot to learn. You know when it is a fail when you're half way spraying and the stencil falls on you head. Or realise what you have sprayed black doesn't actually fit the stencil.
Might go back in daylight just to respray though!
@json hope you have a great day at work! For me time to sleep!

Now all you gotta do is get your PR team to pretend they are Joe public and contact every newspaper and journo that owes them a favour and get a write up or advertorial in the daily news.

First street piece = disaster, by Someones Brain on Sept 1, 2014 15:24:12 GMT 1, Sohoria, how many layers/colors did you try to spray? Maybe a stencil with just one or two layers would have been a better (=easier) choice for a first time night session. Respect!
